Five years ago, SIDNEY COLLIN was presented with an intriguing challenge:<br />

Build something to help a local veteran regain his mobility. One of her<br />

professors at Cal Poly announced that a man named Jack, a San Luis Obispo<br />

resident and longtime sufferer of the debilitating disease known as Parkinson’s,<br />

called the university to ask if there was anyone willing to take a flight on his<br />

idea. Collin raised her hand and one thing led to another. Today, she operates<br />

a fledgling medical device company known as De Oro Devices and its first<br />

product called NexStride is allowing people to do something many dismissed<br />

as an impossibility—walk again. Here is her story…<br />
