Force Free Training
What is it?
Force-free learning is geared toward building trust with
your dog by avoiding anything that can be physically
restraining or punishing. This includes choke, prong, or
shock collars. When combined with Positive
Reinforcement (PR) of desired behaviors, the result is a
pup who is willing to ‘try-on’ new behaviors without fear
of physical repercussions. Training is focused on providing
your dog with reward-based reinforcements that are
desirable and fun. Rewards can be food, play, praise,
touch, going out for a walk or anything your dog loves
and will willingly work for. The result is an increased
likelihood that your dog will repeat those behaviors. In a
force-free training environment, we do not correct or
punish unwanted behavior. Instead, we show the dog
ways to earn rewards for preferred behaviors. In the
force-free world of dog learning, alpha, dominant or
submissive relationships with your dog are considered
aversive, forceful and are no longer acceptable.

Force Free Dog Training
Does Not Use:

• Fear to overwhelm and bully a dog
• Pain to cause a dog comply or
shut down emotionally
• Anger to break your dog’s trust
• Bribery (only) to make working with
a dog easier
• Allowing a dog to run wild and do
what it wants because ‘it is having
fun.’
• Quick fix methods that do not
teach new behaviors

Force Free Training
What is it?
Force Free Dog Training:

• You and your dog learning
together
• You are your dog's advocate
• A lifestyle
• The dog is allowed to say ‘no
please’
• It is based on respect, humane
expectations, and relationship
• Based on positive reinforcement
