Malaika Firth is a Kenyan-British
model who owes her success to
her mother who called Premier
Models in London to tell the agents
about her daughter’s modelling
credentials. Born to a half-Kenyan,
half-Swiss mother and a father of
British, Seychellois and Ugandan
descent, her genetic make-up has
been an interest point for people
she comes across. “People are
allowed to talk about my race. I like
it. I guess, I see myself as a kind of
junior ambassador,” she says in an
interview with The Guardian.
Malaika became the second Black
model to star in a Prada advert
(since Naomi Campbell in 1994).
“After that Prada campaign, when
I was being compared to Naomi
Campbell, I was so happy. She’s
a legend,” said Malaika in her
interview with The Guardian. The
21-year old has been named as
one of the models to look out for
and is well on her way to success
after having walked the runway
for Prada. She is currently based
in New York and signed to Premier
Models Agency.

Africa
Behati Prinsloo is a 26-year
old model who hails from
Grootfontein, Namibia. She was
discovered at the age of 16 while
on holiday in Cape Town, South
African, by scouter Noelle Doukas,
daughter of Sarah Doukas - who
is famously known for discovering
super model Kate Moss.
Behati shot to super model
stardom in 2009 when she was
named as a Victoria’s Secret
Angel and became the face of
their ‘Pink’ brand. She walked the
runway for top fashion design
houses including Chanel and Louis
Vuitton. She has also graced the
covers of high profile magazines
such as Elle and Vogue.
Prinsloo married Maroon 5’s Adam
Levine in July 2014 in Cabo San
Lucas, Mexico. They celebrated
their first wedding anniversary
in the same city, where Adam
serenaded her with a rendition of
Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’.
