On why she held a party in
lockdown, to celebrate weight loss
With the Coronavirus still raging in the
UK, and soon after the partial lifting of
the lockdown, London based Nimata
Tejani, more excited about her successful
surgery and subsequent weight loss than
Covid19 issues, invited friends to her home to
celebrate her weight loss. In this interview, she
tells why she had to celebrate her new-found
body.
Please give me a brief
background about yourself.
What do you do? Where do
you live and which country are
you?
My Name is Nimata Tejan. I
am currently working in the adult
social care sector in Kensington
and Chelsea Council. I live-in
South-East London, and I am
originally from Sierra Leone.
You recently held a weight
loss party to celebrate your
shedding weight. Why did you
have to celebrate your weight
loss?
I celebrated my weight loss
because God allowed me
to have a change! I have
many testimonies; however,
the fact that I was becoming
unrecognisable and losing soo
much confidence and selfworth
in myself! Wow, I did not
believe it. My celebration was
a celebration of hard work and
discipline. My surgery was not
a short cut but a tool to help
me get to where I am now!
How was the party? Was it
well attended, even though
it was still at the height of
the Covid-Pandemic when
there was a partial lift of the
lockdown?
The party was great! The
barbeque was a way of me
saying ‘Thank You’ to everyone
that helped me along the
way; that encouraged me!
That did not give up on me!
The BBQ was for them! Of
course, COVID wanted to
spoil my shinnnneeee, but
God said, ‘Not Today!’ The
police came, haha! However,
my guests were in a social
bubble amongst themselves,
and the police officers left.
What would you say about
Body Positivity- the concept
of loving yourself no matter
how big you are?
