I recently hired a new Parks & Recreation Director and Assistant Director who will focus on re-organizing and
re-branding the department.
The City hired a Public Relations Firm to ensure an accurate and positive image of the City is presented.
With the assistance of the City Commission, the City secured $2.1 Million Dollars from the CARES Act. The
City implemented a program where 5,617 grocery store gift cards were distributed to Opa-locka residents.
In addition, a Housing Assistance program was implemented to assist Opa-locka residents with paying their
rent/mortgage.
2021 GOALS
• The City will invest Millions of Dollars in infrastructure improvements, including completing remaining
sewer main relining, resurfacing roadways, installing new sidewalks, and renovation of Ingram
Park.
• Implement the valuation of all City assets
• Increased emphasis on community policing and police-community outreach
• Achievement of further reduction of criminal activity
• Major emphasis on seeking grant opportunities
