<strong>Cosplay</strong> <strong>Arabia</strong> • january <strong>2021</strong><br />
Q. When you first met in 2016,<br />
Kes was already cosplaying for<br />
over 10 years whereas Marcel<br />
had never cosplayed before –<br />
does that mean opposites really<br />
do attract? Who fell in love first?<br />
Kes: Yes, I really do think so! we<br />
first met at gamescom 2016 when I<br />
was in full cosplay and Marcel was<br />
attending the event with a friend in<br />
a casual outfit. We ended up having<br />
lunch together, he wouldn’t accept<br />
the fact that I hadn’t eaten all day<br />
due to my midriff exposed outfit and<br />
insisted to get me food. And well,<br />
to be honest I think that’s where<br />
I already fell in love with him, so:<br />
FIRST! Even though he has joined<br />
me in cosplay now, we are still quite<br />
different and that’s what keeps our<br />
relationship great and never boring.<br />
Marcel: She was! we met at gamescom<br />
first while she was cosplaying with<br />
a friend. It was a lucky coincidence<br />
over a free hug. We had an instant<br />
connection before we even realized<br />
we were very different apart from<br />
our outfits that day. So I’m not sure<br />
if it was being opposites, perhaps just<br />
destiny.<br />
Q. You and Marcel organize cosplay<br />
events across Germany / Europe<br />
including host at CCXP Cologne! –<br />
tell us a little about that?<br />
Kes: Yes, we are the organizing<br />
team of CCXP COLOGNE <strong>Cosplay</strong><br />
Championship in Germany & I also<br />
host the event. I’ve been presenting &<br />

organizing contests at various events in<br />
Germany for 10 years now and after we<br />
came together, Marcel decided to help<br />
me create cool contests for cons and the<br />
community. It turns out we are not just a<br />
great team in life and cosplay, but also in<br />
working together.<br />
Last year we converted the<br />
championship into an online contest<br />
due to the COVID situation and created<br />
our first big international event with<br />
judges like Lichee, Maul <strong>Cosplay</strong> and<br />
Tingilya <strong>Cosplay</strong> – that’s also how I got<br />
to know about the Middle East cosplay<br />
community as well. It is amazing to<br />
work with a partner like CCXP who<br />
is unparalleled in their dedication to<br />
“WE ENDED UP HAVING LUNCH TOGETHER,<br />
HE WOULDN’T ACCEPT THE FACT THAT<br />
I HADN’T EATEN ALL DAY DUE TO MY<br />
MIDRIFF EXPOSED OUTFIT AND INSISTED<br />
TO GET ME FOOD”<br />
cosplayers and we can’t wait to see what<br />
we will create in <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
