Your camper will have lots of opportunities to try new

PATHFINDERS, TRAILBLAZERS & RANGERS CAMPS

Rangers will have the opportunity to participate in "choice" periods during the 

days where they can select activities that interest them in more specialized 

activities relating to sports, the arts and technology. They will also participate 

in archery (where available.) These oldest campers will have time to be more 

social and enjoy time with their friends.

WEEKLY THEMES FOR CAMP LEO 

Week 1 - June 14-18: Wild West Frontier 

Howdy partner! Let’s kick off the summer heading west along the Oregon Trail as your wagon 

of explorers forges its way across rivers, through canyons, and into the wilderness! Along the 

way we might encounter outlaws, gold miners, and wild animals! 

Week 2 - June 21-25: Superheroes 

Calling all Superheroes! Grab your capes, shields, and masks and get ready to show your true 

strength as we save camp from the dastardly villains! We might even create a few of our own! 

Week 3 - June 28-July 2: Walk on the Wild Side 

Discover the wonders of the animal world as we travel deep into the jungle, zip across the 

Sahara and even explore some creatures native to our area. Campers learn about all kinds 

of wild animals! They play cool animal games and discover interesting facts about the animal 

kingdom by doing exciting science experiments. They explore rainforest, desert, and arctic 

animals this week. 

Week 4 - July 5-July 9: A Pirate's Life 

Prepare to set sail and raise the Jolly Roger as we take to the high seas in search of glory and 

hidden treasure. This swashbuckling adventure will cross paths with buccaneers, sea creatures, 

and the scurviest scallywags around. 

Week 5 - July 12-16: Summer Olympics 

The torch has arrived at camp and countries from around the world compete in traditional 

and wacky events to celebrate this summer’s Olympics! 

Week 6 - July 19-23: Star Wars Universe 

Hit the hyperdrive and lock in your tractor beam on this adventure, a long time ago in a 

galaxy far, far away! Travel to distant planets and meet aliens, droids, and Jedi knights while 

escaping from sith lords and troopers! 

Week 7 - July 26-30: Soaking Up Summer 

Let's cannonball into a week of water fun! Come and enjoy a week of wet 'n wild water 

activities, slip and slides, water hoses, water balloons and more! We will mix in some 

summertime favorite “fun in the sun” games. 

Week 8 - August 2-6: Blast From the Past 

It's time to get RETRO! Come have a totally groovy trip through the decades! Each day will be 

a different era and we will learn about popular trends, games, and music from the past! Come 

have a groovy trip through decades of fun! 

Week 9 - August 9-13: Holiday Hoopla 

Let's celebrate! The week’s adventures include searching for the lucky leprechaun, an all 

camp birthday party, Christmas in July, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Costume Party and more! 

Week 10 - August 16-20: Medieval Kingdom 

Welcome to a time of kings and queens, knights and princesses, dragons and magical 

creatures, where adventures await over the moat and beyond the castle walls. 

Week 11 - August 23-27: Camp Rewind (Held at the Lionville Community YMCA.) 

Join us in making spectacular summer camp memories as we put the entire summer on rewind! 

We play the summers favorite games, make our favorite crafts and end the summer recreating 

our favorite memories from the past 10 weeks!

AQUATICS CAMPS 

Aquatics Camp Location: Church Farm School in Exton, PA 

CAMP CANNONBALL • Completed Grades 1-5 

Weeks 1-9: June 14-August 13 

9AM-4PM 

Do you love the water? Aquatics camp is perfect for water enthusiasts 

interested in experiencing a camp filled with water sports and pool games. 

Each day campers will be introduced to a new water sport and/or water 

game in the pool while also participating in traditional camp activities such as 

team building, character development and arts and crafts. Campers must be 

able to pass the YMCA GREEN BAND swim test to participate, which requires 

them to swim the length of the pool and tread water for 1 minute. Campers 

should bring sunscreen, water bottle, swim suit, and towel each day of camp. 




JR. LIFEGUARD CAMP • Completed Grades 6-8 

Week 2: June 21-25 • Week 7: July 26-30 • Week 9: August 9-13 

9AM-4PM 

Do you enjoy helping others? Our Jr. Lifeguard Camp is a hands-on 

experience for campers to learn first aid, CPR, water rescue techniques 

and other topics related to lifeguarding from trained and certified staff. 

This valuable experience builds self-confidence and team work skills. 

Campers must be comfortable in the water with the ability to swim 

multiple pool lengths. Certification not included. This camp is an 

introduction to lifeguarding.

Hit a home run at Baseball & Softball Camp! While focusing on the basics of 

hitting, fielding, base running and pitching, campers learn teamwork and good 

sportsmanship playing America's favorite pastime.

Improve your court skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense while 

having fun playing scrimmages, knockout and other basketball games.

Learn proper hand and body movements, jumping techniques, tumbling and 

dance moves. Camp culminates with a choreographed performance for families.

Ready, set, hike! Meet the world of flag football. Campers are taught the 

fundamentals of football with a focus on skills and drills, while learning 

teamwork and sportsmanship.

Shoot, goal! Campers are taught basic soccer skills including 

passing, shooting, defense and game rules, while also learning

STEAM CAMPS 

STEAM Camp Location: Church Farm School in Exton, PA 

Completed grades 6-8 

Campers will spend the morning with the highly esteemed 

CFS faculty as they learn the STEAM components of the 

day. Afternoons will be spent with the YMCA staff providing 

social/emotional activities including team building, 

character development, group games and more. 

Campers will also enjoy an afternoon swim time. 

Week 2: June 21-25 

9am-4pm 

2021 FLUOR ENGINEERING CHALLENGE: TALLEST TOWER 

Students will work in teams of 2-3 members to design and build the tallest 

possible paper tower that is capable of supporting a load for 60 seconds. 

Students will learn 1. The engineering design process 2. Elements of tower 

design (tension, compression, truss). 

NATURE & ENVIRONMENT 

Using nature and the environment as inspiration, campers will make a giant 

leaf ceramic platter, paint with natural ingredients, use foliage as stencils for 

printmaking, and upcycling found objects into art. 



Week 3: June 28-July 2 

9am-4pm 

“YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND” 

Students will design and 3D print spinning tops and compete to see whose 

top spins the longest. In the process, students will gain exposure to CAD 

and 3D-printing. 

PHOTOGRAPHY 

Campers will learn the basics of photography including how to use a DSLR 

camera and the exposure triangle, make a beautiful cyanotype picture, create 

a short stop motion video, and use photo emulsion to screenprint a t-shirt.

PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE 

Students in small groups will construct a model of a prosthetic heart valve 

using tape, plastic tubing, and other materials. In this activity, the student 

will learn the engineering design process and how one-way valves work. 

“MOM I WANT TO SING” 

Did you ever want to learn how to sing-on-key? Maybe you are a 

budding singer seeking to improve your craft. Either way your will 

learn singing techniques and refine your singing skills. The week will 

end with a performance. 



Week 6: June 19-23 

9am-4pm 

VIDEO GAME PROJECT 

Students will program a video game of their own design using MIT’s Scratch 

programming language. Along the way, the students will learn computerprogramming 

concepts used by professional coders. 

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY & SONG WRITING 

Using a storybook as a foundation, students will write lyrics that fit within 

a basic pop song (verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus, hook, and chorus). They 

will create the instrumental track using Garageband and record their song 

lyrics to create their very own song.

and to reserve your spot today. 

EPACT: Once your child's registration 

is processed in our system, the Payer 

and Head of Household will receive an 

email from YMCA of Greater Brandywine 

via ePACT Network. This contains 

very important information on filling 

out your child's health history and 

emergency contacts. Please make sure 

this information has been completed and 

shared online so they can participate on 

the first day of the program. 

REGISTRATION POLICIES 

• A YMCA membership is not required to 

register for camp. However, those who 

maintain a YMCA membership at the 

time of registration through the end of a 

camp session receive the member rate. If 

the membership is not maintained during 

this period, the rate will be adjusted to 

the non-member rate. No changes to 

rates will be made if a YMCA membership 

has been started AFTER the camp 

registration has been processed. 

• Registration for each camp must 

be submitted by 10 pm the previous 

Wednesday. A late fee of $50 will be 

applied on registrations after that 

deadline and if space allows. 

• A camp deposit of $35 per child per week is 

due at the time of registration. Deposits are 

non-refundable and non-transferable and 

are subtracted from your weekly rate. 

Please note, the deposit cannot be 

transferred to another session. 

• The remaining balance will be processed 

two Sundays prior to the camp start date. 

Payments must be made through weekly 

automated drafts or in-full at the time of 

registration. You may pay earlier by 

contacting the branch to set up another 

payment. Camp payments are not able to 

be split between two or more payers. 

• No refunds are available within two weeks 

of the start of the session. 

• Families who receive Child Care Works (CCW) 

funding are required to pay a $10 per 

camper per week fee in addition to their 

weekly co-pay. In the event coverage 

is terminated by CCW, the family will be 

responsible for all care expenses incurred. 

• Families with two or more children signing 

up for the same week receive 10% off the 

lowest weekly fee (restrictions apply). If you 

register online, please complete the sibling 

discount form and we will apply the discount 

to your account. Discount is not able to be 

combined with financial assistance and/or 

staff discounts. 

• Those applying CCW funds must register in 

branch. Online registration is not available 

for those requests.

PICK UP ON TIME! 

The camp day ends at 6 pm at the 

YMCA. If you are going to be late 

picking up your child, please arrange 

to have an authorized pick-up 

person arrive by 6 pm or call the Y 

to inform staff. 

Campers who are repeatedly picked 

up late from extended camp time 

may lose access to the program and 

parents will be required to pick up 

their child(ren) at the end of the 

regular camp day.

ELECTRONIC-FREE 

Did you know that kids ages 5 to 10 spend an average 

of up to six hours on screen media daily? That is one of the 

reasons why the use of cell phones, cameras or other 

electronic devices during camp hours is prohibited. 

Such equipment, if present, will be asked to be put away or 

confiscated and returned at the end of the day. We want 

your children to get the most out of their time at camp.
