Terri’s Two Cents
We all have to do things,
periodically, that we do NOT want
to do. Maybe those things are
scary or just too difficult to do. I
was faced with one of those tasks
recently. I needed to clean out a
cabinet that had become infested
with mice. The mice found enough
material to build a nice comfy nest
and move into my storage cabinet.
Needless to say, I was terrified to
even open the doors of the cabinet.
So, I postponed my task until the
smell was overwhelming, and I
was having nightmares about mice
almost daily.
I decided that this week was
the right time. I absolutely needed
to clear out the mouse nest and
take back control of the cabinet
immediately! I tried several times
to muster the courage to open the
doors all by myself, and failed. I
needed a new strategy. So, I enlisted
my husband, Andy, to stand with
me for moral support. I assured
him that all I needed was someone
to be with me and encourage me
to overcome my fear. Together, we
swept out all the mouse droppings
and nesting material shelf by shelf.
I was feeling confident with my
support system by my side.
Our system was working very
well until we got to the third shelf
down and encountered a live (not
very cute) little critter. I began
shaking uncontrollably and had to
leave the immediate area. Andy,
the braver member of our team,
captured the rodent, removed it,
and calmly called me back so we
could continue to work. Together,
we finished the job. Due to the
backing of my partner, I was able to
face my fear and complete my chore.
I consider God to be my support
system in life. God has promised
to be by my side when things are
easy and when things are scary or
difficult. God gives me courage to
face the challenges of this world,
and I trust that God will never leave
me alone. What a great comfort that
is to know!
