Fellowship
Two weeks ago was the
Baptism of our Lord. Pastor
Amanda reminded us of our own
baptism when God named us
one of His children and claimed
us as His own. So began our
relationship with Him. For
those baptized as infants, it is
maybe easier to see that God
did everything for us, it is not
something we do ourselves.
Pastor also mentioned that every
day we walk in the promise of
our baptism, and we are to point
to Jesus, just as John the Baptist
did back then. She also said that
God is calling us to care for one
another.
In our relationship with God,
what influences our choices
in how we are serving Him?
How does this all pertain to
Stewardship? As stewards
of what God has entrusted to
our care, including our many
blessings, how do we decide
how to share this with others, and
in what way and how much? A
faithful steward is defined as
someone who is continually
examining the course of one’s
life, so pondering questions
such as these can be a natural
part of being a seeker, one who
desires to grow closer to God.
In what way am I comfortable
sharing my faith? Lutheran’s
“...every day we walk in the promise of our
baptism, and we are to point to Jesus just as
John the Baptist did back then.”
have often been known to be
more private in how we share our
faith. Sometimes overcoming a
difficult season, recovering from
a health challenge, or addiction,
or even finding encouragement
in a book, movie, or recent
conversation are small and big
ways to share our faith with
others.
Our actions, how we serve
when we volunteer, is something
so needed at Creator and in
other community programs.
Start small, signing up to
volunteer just one time is so
appreciated. When we choose
to give financially to Creator or
donate to other agencies, how
do we determine how much?
Our journey with God is so
personal, and yet can bring glory
to Him and benefit others in the
process. Research has shown
that helping others is a means
to reduce signs of depression.
We benefit from our giving and
serving God. We are uplifted
as we bring encouragement to
others. We need each other,
even more so now during the
challenges of this pandemic.
