There’s a certain hedonistic
flamboyance to the collaborations
between Roger Dubuis and
Lamborghini. The two have worked
together to create four previous
Excalibur timepieces that drew
inspiration from the luxury sports cars
Huracán, Huracán Spyder, Huracán
Performante and Aventador S. The
Excalibur Spider Huracán STO, like the
supercar it is modeled after, is a vibrant
spectacle of excess and a fitting addition
to the partnership.
The Huracán STO is strongly
rumored to be the sixth and final car in
the line. A 5.2-liter V10 engine delivers
640 horsepower and 417 pound-feet
of torque, which rockets the car from
zero to 62mph in three seconds flat —
staggering performance for a street-legal
luxury sports car. The car itself boasts
an aggressive posture and bears a livery
of Blue Laufey with California Orange
accents, a combination that does exactly
what it was meant to do: capture all
attention. It’s the kind of car that will
collect passersby, drawing admiration
and envious sighs.
Roger Dubuis took the high octane
colorway and over-the-top performance
in stride, creating a compelling timepiece
for any supercar enthusiast. The strap
has a rubber base with a perforated
calf leather inlay in Blue Laufey, which
incorporates the Huracán STO’s major
color scheme and calls to mind the
fine leather of luxury seats and custom
driving gloves. California Orange streaks
along the strap in the stitches and peeks
through the perforations, bringing home
the Huracán STO’s accent color with
panache. There is a Pirelli P Zero Trofeo
R pattern on the lining and a quickrelease
system for interchangeability.
The dial is a visual feast. The case is
a substantial 45mm, and every inch of
real estate lends itself to completing the
parallels to the supercar that inspired it.
