Painted Rocks.Friendship Rocks.Kindness Rocks.Positivity Rocks.Whatever you call them, they’re small stonesthat have been painted with encouraging,inspirational or just fun messages, that are then leftoutside in public places where others can come acrossthem. This activity has become a bit of a trend that hasgrown in popularity since the COVID pandemic began.There is a short rail trail in Georgetown, stretching fromJohn St. to Wildwood Road, that could have connected to the TransCanada Trail, had the Town of Halton Hills not declined to assumeownership after the railway company abandoned it. Theremaining rail line was given to adjacent landowners andthe possibility of a longer trail was lost. Still, localresidents enjoy using the short trail year-round.In spring when the pandemic lockdown tookeffect, adults and children began placingpainted rocks along this trail.
