In one year, 12 residents succumb to COVID-19

The death of a female Haddonfield resident in her 70s, reported by the

Camden County Department of Health on Tue Mar 2, brought the total number

of local fatalities attributed to the novel coronavirus in the past 12 months to

12 – six males and six females.

The first fatality, that of a male in his 80s, was reported on Apr 18, 2020.

The age distribution of Haddonfield residents who succumbed is as follows:

• Males: 1 in 50s, 1 in 70s, 1 in 80s, 3 in 90s.

• Females: 1 in 40s, 2 in 70s, 2 in 80s, 1 in 90s.

The total number of cases for Haddonfield, as of Thu Mar 4, stands at

509 — about 1 in 23 residents. The school district has reported 147 cases: 111

children and 36 adults.

In comments reported on Tue Mar 2, County Commissioner Director Louis

Cappelli, Jr. said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of 10

additional residents of Camden County due to COVID-19. The victims and their

families are in our thoughts and prayers. With so much news surrounding new

vaccines and expanded eligibility beginning later this month, it bears repeating

how important it is that everyone get the vaccine as soon as they are eligible

and able to. The vaccines are safe, effective, and critical to our ability to move

forward and out of this pandemic.”
