(Raw cotton) Cotton fibre is scheduled to be organized w.e.f. 02/08/2010 to 31/08/2010 at
Cotton Classing Centre, Nagpur.

prescribed application form (enclosed), so as to reach this Directorate by 16/07/2010.
It is, further requested that the sponsored candidates should be relieved for training, only
when the admission is confirmed by this office.

SHORT TERM TRAINING PROGRAMME IN GRADING OF KAPAS

Maximum Intake Capacity : 15 candidates
Objective : To promote grading of Kapas, prior to sale in the regulated
markets and to facilitate procurement Operation undertaken by the Co-operatives, State
Markets, NAFED and the National State Textile Corporations on the basis of quality and
grade and enable the cotton growers to fetch price commensurate with quality.
Participation : The Junior level in-service officials sponsored by the State
Marketing Departments, State Marketing Board Co-operatives and other Government and
Semi Government Organizations are eligible for admission to this course.
Course Content : Historical background of cotton, botanical and trade
classification of cotton varieties, varieties grown in different States and their quality
characteristics, marketing of kapas and lint and problems faced, various central and state
legislative measures related to cotton marketing, technological aspects, ginning pressing,
balling physical properties of cotton fibre, factors affecting the quality of kapas, post harvest
improved marketing practices.
Training Method logy : (a) Medium of Instruction: English Lectures, seminars and
workshops, guest faculty, library assignments, field trips, grading practice, study tours and
audio visual aids. The course material is supplied free of cost in cyclostyled form.
Fee : No fee is charged from the sponsored candidates admitted to
the course, No lodging and boarding facilities are provided by the Directorate of Marketing
and Inspection, and the trainees will have to make their own arrangements. The sponsoring
authority will have to pay T.A. & D.A. to the trainees to the entire period of training.
Study tour : In order to provide an opportunity to the trainees to study the
grading of kapas at the level of regulated markets, co-operatives and to enable them to keep
abreast with the operational and functional aspects of the marketing of cotton and quality
control aspects, field visits are arranged to the concerned organization. The sponsoring
authorities are, therefore requested to pay a sum of Rs 10,000/- Towards T.A. advance.
Awards of Certificate : Certificate is awarded by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser
to the Government of India, to the trainees, who successfully complete the training
programme.
