Hidden away behind the positive headlines<br />
of the Prime Minister’s road map, the one<br />
leading us to those sunny uplands, was the<br />
caveat that local or regional lockdowns may come into<br />
force if infections rise again.<br />
Here in <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Helens</strong>, we’ve had a bellyful of lockdown<br />
restrictions and every single one of us has a part to play<br />
in making sure that this doesn’t happen again. Crucially,<br />
when you are asked to go for your jabs, for God’s sake, go.<br />
Affirming yourself as a proud anti-vaxxer might get you<br />
your 15 seconds of infamy on social media, but your<br />
actions could lead to you joining the many anti-vaxxers<br />
who have ended up in ICU, bitterly regretting their words.<br />
Whilst a healthy sense of scepticism is a necessary quality<br />
to have in this world of fake news, wilfully ignoring<br />
scientific facts that show how well the vaccines have<br />
performed is unacceptable behaviour, and could be<br />
downright dangerous for both you and the unfortunate<br />
people around you.<br />
Let’s just imagine being able to sink a pint at the local pub,<br />
meet with friends for a meal, hug your family, get your<br />
hair cut, cheer on Saints live, book a sunshine holiday and<br />
all the other pleasures that we used to take for granted -<br />
but will never do so again.<br />
The faster we all have the jab, the faster we’ll be able to do<br />
those things again. So when that call comes, get the jab!<br />
Come on <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Helens</strong>, you can do it!<br />
