SERKAN TEKIN’s “Istanbul: A Street Opera” Series
Ne yapmalıydım, nasıl
yapmalıydım emin değildim.
Fotoğrafı ve fotoğraf makinemi
tanıdıkça, sokaklara ve insanlara
alıştıkça o kafa karışıklığı gitmeye
başladı. Anlatmak istediğim
her şeyin, aradığımın, sanatın
sokaklarda olduğunu anladım.
Beni yıllardır yoğuran şeyleri
görmeye başladım sokaklarda.
Mizah da sokaktaydı, acı da...
Güzel ve çirkin, iyi ve kötü, canlı
ve cansız, biçim ve hikaye, normal
ve anormal, gerçek ve hatta
gerçeküstü... hepsi sokaktaydı.
I wasn’t sure what and how should
I do . As I got to know the photo
and my camera, and got used
to the streets and people, that
confusion started to disappear.
I realized that everything I want
to tell and what I was looking for
was on the streets. I started to
see things that have ripen me for
years in the streets. Humor was
on the street, pain was on the
street... beautiful and ugly, good
and bad, alive and lifeless, form
and story, normal and abnormal,
real and even surreal... it was all
on the streets.
