FIRE!

Our God is about to do great things! His
power is on the increase. Biblically
God’s power cannot become smaller!
At a time of national calamity, Joel
2:21&23 says, ‘Rejoice and be glad, for
the Lord is about to do great things – in
YOUR nation! ... Be glad, rejoice in your
God, because He gave you the former
rain moderately, and He will give you
the latter rain!’ I know Israel well: the
former (first) rain is when they plant the
seed, the last rain is just before the harvest
and it is greater than the first –
that’s why I believe we are living in a
new Day of Pentecost (harvest) now!
When the church was born on the Day
of Pentecost, it was born in fire! And
before Jesus comes back, we’re going
to have another greater baptism in fire!
If we believe we are living in the last
days, we need the Holy Spirit desperately!
The reason I first received the
Holy Spirit was because I knew I had to
preach the Gospel – with lives
changed, souls saved into the
Kingdom! I found Christ when I was 8,
was baptised in water aged 12. The first
time I spoke in my church I was only 13.
I advertised, the people came; I
preached, but nobody repented! I was
shocked because I had grown up with
some of the greatest evangelists. I went
home and asked my father, who was a
great preacher, one of the founders of
the Pentecostal movement in Great
Britain, what was wrong? I had
preached the same Gospel – from the
Bible like my father – but nobody
repented. My father said, “Because
you have not yet received the Holy
Spirit!” That night he laid his hands on
me and prayed that I would receive
the Holy Spirit – but I did not receive
– no fire, no power!

But from that moment I had only one
desire, to meet with God and to
receive His power in my life.
For 3 months I prayed without receiving.
But I knew that without the power, the
fire, the anointing of God, I could never
see men’s lives converted. At Easter we
used to have three Pentecostal
Conventions in London. I determined to
go and not leave until I had received
the baptism of the Holy Spirit! The
preaching was so long in the morning,
there was no time to pray for people to
receive the Holy Spirit! As a 13-year old I
went up to those great men of God on
the platform and said, “I only came to
receive the fire, pray for me!” They took
me to a small room, laid their hands on
me, but their minds were on their lunch!
I did not receive the Holy Spirit.
I was searching for something which
does not come from men, the real
power of God. One of those pastors
saw my heart, opened the Scripture to
me, then when he prayed and laid
hands on me, it was as if the roof came
off the building, I saw the Glory of God
and felt the fire! The fire of the Holy
Ghost, the power of God and the Glory
of God came into my life! Now I had to
become an evangelist! I had to preach
Christ, and see the Power! That baptism
was only the beginning!
If you want to be effective in ministry,
you MUST be filled with the Holy Spirit!
There is a danger today that we do not
understand the reality of what the baptism
in the Holy Spirit means.
In Acts 1:5 Jesus said to His disciples,
“You have been baptised in water,
but you’re about to be baptised
in the Holy Ghost!” – It was to be
the power to change their lives,
yet immediately the disciples got
their minds on prophecy: “When
this happens, will You then
restore the Kingdom to Israel?
Get rid of the Romans?” Jesus
said, “Hold on, before that
happens, you’ve got a job to
do, and that’s why I’m telling
you, when the Holy Spirit
comes, you will receive
power, fire, miracles – and
you will be My witnesses!” –
If we are truly living in the
days before Christ’s return,
that’s what our job is! And we NEED this
baptism of fire to spread the power of
this miraculous Gospel!
In Acts 1 Jesus spoke both of baptism in
water and in the Holy Spirit in the same
way using the same Greek word ‘baptizo’,
immersed. The Word of God in Acts
2:38 is clear, ‘Repent and be baptised
for the remission of sins.’ – Jesus came
to John the Baptist and asked to be
baptised. John hesitated because he
knew who Jesus was (Matt 3:14), but
even Jesus had to be baptised in the
river Jordan – not sprinkled, but
immersed! And immediately after Jesus
was baptised, the Holy Spirit came
upon Him! Now if Jesus needed baptism
both in water and the Holy Ghost,
so do you!
Why immersion in water? Paul tells us in
Col 2:12 that we are buried with Christ
in baptism, and risen with Him through
faith in God who raised Him from the
dead! The Greek word used is ‘baptizo’,
immerse: the importance of water
baptism is that it is symbolic of your
death to sin and your resurrection to
new life! The way that the Gospel gets
rid of your sin is by death – you die to
sin! When you come to Christ your old
life is dead! Gone forever! Jesus went
into the grave – His body had to die –
so that a miracle could happen! He
came alive again, rising from the dead.
Every one of us who comes to Christ,
dies to the past and, as Jesus said, is
born again! How can you be born
again unless you die first?! This experience
we have in Christ, is symbolised
by burial in water. This is the importance
of water baptism. It is a public confession
of your new life!
Baptism in the Holy Spirit should be
more powerful than in water! – Jesus
said, “You shall be baptised in the Holy
Spirit.” Why? Jesus said, “Unless I die,
you cannot receive the Holy Spirit! But if
I go I will send Him – and He, the Holy
Spirit, will convict the world of sin, righteousness
and judgment – and nothing
will be impossible! You will be My witnesses,
preach Christ, demonstrate the
power of God on earth!”
The revolution when you are baptised in
the Holy Ghost, has to be LIFE-TRANS-
FORMING! In the Acts of the Apostles
the disciples received the baptism of

the Holy Spirit – instantly they were no longer frightened and ineffective, but
filled with boldness and fire! That’s what we need today in the church – a new
boldness, a new authority, a new power – which is the result of a baptism in the
Holy Spirit!
From the moment I was baptised in the Holy Spirit, my whole life was transformed
– not just by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but absolute change! Saved,
baptised in water, now almost 14, that baptism in the Holy Spirit was the greatest
change of all, a REVOLUTION in my life! It changed my living, my thinking, my
preaching, – a physical and spiritual manifestation that was obvious wherever I
went. I was preaching in the school: now my classmates changed, two went on
to become preachers; the cynical Scripture teacher, who spent his time criticising
the Bible, also changed and started a Bible study group and prayer meeting
in the school! Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not just an anointing or a feeling or an
emotional experience – it has to be an ABSOLUTE LIFE-CHANGING MIRACLE, a
spiritual revolution in your life. If it has not changed you, you need to be
immersed and baptised in the Holy Spirit again!
This Gospel that we preach has power to change the lives of drug addicts and
criminals! Sixteen years ago I was preaching in a prison in Russia, 1400 criminals
– mass murderers, sex offenders – every one of them repented, and out of them,
God raised up 140 evangelists and pastors! That is the power of God! Not just
conversion, but changing men, turning them into preachers on fire with the Holy
Ghost!
When the Holy Spirit filled that early church, a boldness came on them, they lost
their fear, they preached the Word – like Philip in Acts 8:5-8,14. Every time they
were filled with the Holy Ghost, miracles happened! When the apostles prayed
for the new converts, power came on them! If you are not seeing miracles, get
a fresh baptism! Read the Acts of the Apostles! It is the story of a transformed
church, a church motivated, with a purpose, on fire with the power of the Holy
Ghost! The Word of God says, Jesus will baptise you with the Holy Ghost and fire!
Church, where is the fire, the boldness, the miracles today?
I am still not satisfied, God wants to change and transform my life more and
more! – Why did I first go to Russia, why do I have the ministry I have today? My
first visit behind the Iron Curtain was 49 years ago. I was an evangelist, a pastor
in England, yet I saw how people had lost the anointing, lost the power. I was
determined I would have an experience with God that was incorruptible, that
could not be destroyed, that would last until the appearing of Christ! I heard
that the first World Pentecostal Conference in Jerusalem would be held on the
Day of Pentecost, in May 1961. – I was determined to be there to receive a new
baptism of fire! My Bible says that the church of God began in fire on the Day of
Pentecost, and the church will end in fire when Christ returns!
I was married, with twin girls, how could I get there? I could not afford the air
fare, but I was determined to go! I decided to go by road, which was impossible,
no one had ever done it before! Prayerfully God gave me a plan to organise
an expedition from England to Jerusalem. I was warned that I would have to
go through the communist countries, be killed by bandits crossing Turkey, and
going through Syria, arrested as a spy and put in prison. But God was with me
and, because I took eight others with me and organised the whole expedition,
it cost me nothing!
When I got there I was so disappointed. I had gone for only one reason: to be in
Jerusalem believing God would send another Pentecost. There were 3000 in the
conference: 2999 tourists, and me! Nothing happened, nobody laid their hands
on me, I didn’t fall over, I didn’t feel any power, nothing. I had done everything
to be there, spent two years organising, in order to meet with God, and nothing,
absolutely nothing happened! And I came home.

I STEPPED
Exactly forty years later, May 2001, I was again in Jerusalem in the same hall to
evangelise! Before it started I spent days walking round the hall praying and crying
to God, “40 years ago I was so hungry, so determined to receive new power
from the Holy Ghost, but You didn’t do anything! I didn’t receive the new fire!
What was wrong?”
God answered me, “Forty years ago, after you came here, what happened?” I
said, “My whole life changed!” I became a missionary to Israel, coming up to
eight times a year, bringing tourists. In order to get to Jerusalem I had to go
behind the Iron Curtain, through the communist countries, and God opened my
eyes. I made contact with believers, people were pleading with me for Bibles
and God began to put a new power in my life. I thought my ministry was Israel,
but God said no, it’s in the communist countries.
In 1964, only three and a half years after my first visit to Jerusalem, I lost my
voice. Unable to preach in my church, I went to the hospital to be told I had
throat cancer and needed an operation. I didn’t have time for an operation
and, believing God for a miracle because I had seen so many healings in my
ministry, I prayed for 3 months. Then, because my faith was strong, I told the
doctors that I was healed. They laughed at me, they said that there is no God
and the cancer was now so big, I must have an operation within 3 days to
remove my vocal chord! I went home in shock – I was an evangelist, a missionary
in Israel – and, only 32 years old, my ministry was finished!
I fell on my knees and said, “O God, teach me how to pray!”– It’s one thing to
pray when they say you have cancer, it is totally different when you only have 3
days before they take away your voice! I remember crying out, “Oh God, I
haven’t yet seen Your power in my life! Oh God, my dream, my vision is not fulfilled!
Oh God heal me! I’ve seen so many miracles! Now I need a miracle!” My
church members said, “It is so easy for David to see God work miracles when
somebody else has cancer. Now he’s got it!” At the end of that day I was not
healed.
The next day I changed my prayer to the most dangerous one of my life: “Oh
God I believe you are telling me my ministry should be in Russia. If You want me
to leave my home, my family, then I need a miracle! Take this cancer out now!” I
went to the Word of God. The relationship I have with God is that I say, “Lord, if
You want to talk with me, tell me direct and show me in writing, in Your Word!”
Men lie, but God is not a man, He cannot lie! The Bible is the most powerful book
in the world! All the power and authority that God has is revealed in His Word! –
What He says He does! I turned to Romans 8, and read: “When we don’t know
how to pray, the Holy Spirit prays for us, according to the will of God.” In that
moment, I knew I had the answer. It was the will of God!
Next morning I went to the hospital. There were three doctors, they
put the instruments down my throat, pulled them out – three times
– and they were angry and began to accuse me, “Who did it?
Who operated? – Somebody has cut it out with a knife! The surgeon
who operated has left a scar!” I said, “The God you don’t
believe in, He did it last night!” God had touched my throat, and
touched my life! Now I had to tell my church that I would leave
and go to Russia!
But why did this happen? Because I was searching for the
power of God in my life. The cancer was the next step. God
knew my heart: in 1961 I went to Jerusalem saying I wanted a
new anointing, a new fire – three and a half years later I got
the beginning of a new power, a new fire, when God healed
my cancer! Without that miracle I would not have known the
power of God in my life! I don’t want ‘prophecy’, I don’t want
emotion, I don’t want to party. I want the Hand of God to
touch me. It was one more step towards the real power of
God – a baptism of fire!

INTO THE FIRE!
It was eight years later on Midsummer’s
Day 1972, as I was crossing the border into
Czechoslovakia with 5000 Russian Bibles,
that I was arrested and put in a communist
prison. I had converted my Travel
Company buses so that every time I
crossed the border I could take 2 tonnes of
Bibles, (5000 full Bibles or 12,000 New
Testaments or 100,000 Gospels). I had done
this for many years.
My year in that prison was the best year in
my life: I learnt how to pray and find God! I
began to pray for God to release me. Two
days after I had been found guilty at the trial
(4 months after my arrest), God showed me
in a dream the exact day that I would be
released, but I still had no idea of how great
the miracle would be. After almost one year,
and exactly on the day God had promised,
Harold Wilson, the British Prime Minister flew
into Czechoslovakia to secure my release –
and as God had promised, within three
days, because of all the publicity surrounding
the Prime Minister’s rescue, I was invited
to speak to 10,000 people in the Royal Albert
Hall in London.
But during those months of torture and suffering,
I had an experience in that prison of the
power and the Glory of God, something
which I have never experienced in any

church! My real experiences with God have
never been in a church, or in a conference –
not even in Jerusalem, although Jerusalem
changed my whole life. It was first in my
teenage cry for God – then in my cancer –
then in my prison that I found God. The next
step of power in my ministry began when
God touched my life in that prison!
God is always a God of miracles! Yes, I have
experienced the power of God in my life!
Not some emotional experience in a conference,
but step by step walking closer to
God – my teenage cry for fire, the cancer,
the prison – and many other problems and
miracles. What will it be next time, what will
happen this year? I still don’t have enough
power, still not satisfied that God has
answered me fully, what will it be next? All I
know is that it is step by step by step, and I
have not reached the end of the road yet!
That’s why Peter said we have a living
hope, an inheritance which is incorruptible
that cannot be defiled, that does not fade
away but goes on increasing and increasing
until that moment when we see Jesus in
all power and all Glory – 1 Peter 1:4. Every
step is another miracle towards experiencing
the power of God in our lives! As for me,
I will seek a fresh baptism in the Holy Spirit
every day until I am in the Kingdom of God.

In the week before our evangelism in Armenia,
our advertising campaign flooded the nation.
Suddenly there was a great commotion. Seeing
that people would be coming from every part
of the country, pressure was put upon the government
itself to overturn our legal contract
with the stadium! Armenia is applying the same
anti-evangelical laws as Russia! The director
was afraid and cancelled the agreement. In
the following days the directors of the three
other stadiums in Yerevan, the capital city, first
agreed to host us, then intimidated by the
same pressure groups, withdrew the contracts.
Our main organiser was also called in for interrogation.
Then the authorities mounted a great
counter campaign against our ‘evil meetings’,
on TV and in the national newspapers, giving
incredible publicity across all Armenia to the
challenge of the Gospel!
Only the owner of the stadium in Vanadzor, one
and a half hours outside Yerevan, still had the
courage to allow us to come; and the sound
system was installed. The director was evidently
moved by the crusade we held in his stadium
last year, as too the mayor and even the local
KGB. But on the Saturday morning, the opening
day of the crusade, a delegation of government,
militia and security officials ‘paid a visit’
to the owner of the stadium. As a result of this
‘visit’ he had to inform our organisers that he
was no longer in the position to let us use his
stadium. Whilst the sound system was hastily
being torn down and rapidly re-located in the
local church, our chief organiser was himself
then summoned for interrogation. After he had
been released, next the pastor was summoned
by the mayor – a man well disposed towards
the local church – but not now, being himself
threatened with losing his job if evangelism
went ahead in town.
Despite being threatened with being de-registered
and having his church building confiscated,
the pastor stood firm: his building and the
land belong to the church, he was doing nothing
against the state. He insisted he would
allow the evangelism to go ahead on his
church property. Afterwards he said, ‘If we do
not stand and fight now, we, the evangelical
church in Armenia, will never be able to fight
against these attacks again.’
Despite road blocks, more than 130 buses
brought the people over the two days, coming
from different regions each night to give as
many people as possible the chance to hear
the Gospel. More than 6000 each night
crammed into the auditorium, crowded in the
aisles, on the platform, in the corridors, up the
stairs, in the balcony, in the kitchen and dining
room below, and outside in the courtyard. –
Last year we had 5000 for one night in the stadium
– this time 12,000 came from across the
nation! Police and secret service personnel
mingled in the crowds, but could find nothing
to halt the meetings – which were filmed and
also broadcast live on the internet all over the
world. The messages David spoke were the
most powerful presentation of the Gospel I
have ever heard.
After David called the people to repent in their
thousands on the opening night, and before
the prayer for the sick, a tremendous black ‘tornado’
ripped through the town, with thunder
and lightning, and hail the size of golf balls
drumming furiously on the roof and beating on
the cars in the street outside. The people were
afraid, was it an earthquake like they had 20
years ago? It was as if Acts 4:24-31 was happening
here in Vanadzor, in Armenia – the
whole place was literally shaken! When David
publicly commanded – in the Name of Jesus –
the storm to stop, it stopped! And following this,
the healings – see Acts 4:29-30 – were amongst
the swiftest and most outstanding we have
seen! A man with five tumours on his head, a
woman with a tumour on her face, a boy with
a cancer tumour on his back – instantly, perfectly
healed – and hundreds more! Only on
the way home on the Sunday night the buses
which came from the Karaba region – where
the government had de-registered the church
last year and confiscated their church building
– were stopped and searched at a police road
block. Christian booklets and leaflets were
taken from them – but not their Bibles.
The leaders of the largest evangelical/charismatic
groups – and people from other countries
– stood with us all the way in the preparation
for the great crusade originally to be held
in Yerevan, and then in the ensuing debacle
with the government. At the airport as we left,
one of these pastors said, “I don’t know how it
will end, but I know the hand of God was on it.
We already had a mini revival going on, with
conversions in every meeting, but God wants to
do something new, something greater. Before
we can move up a level, it takes a
tremendous effort and this is the time
for that effort. We must not miss the
day of God’s visitation – it will not
come again. David, your ministry is a
gift from Heaven for us. There is a time
when we will take the largest stadium
in the nation and we will see a great
outpouring!”

THE CHURCH WAS
BORN IN PERSECUTION!
Despite the opposition which meant we
had to move the evangelism in Armenia
from the capital Yerevan to Vanadzor,
David was still invited to speak at two meetings
in Yerevan to encourage the believers,
and to pray for Armenia and for victory over
all opposition. A total of four thousand
came. On the Friday night David said:
Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father, Your
Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth
as it is in Heaven. God’s will is evangelism!
The voice of God cannot be silenced, no
man, no demon in hell can stop the power
of God! The prophet says God will pity His
people and God will answer! – Joel
2:18&19. This nation is hungry for God! The
prophet says in verse 21, don’t be afraid,
God WILL do great things in Armenia! I
want to tell you about the power of God!
Peter, after the fire fell on that first church
on the day of Pentecost, said what has
happened is the fulfilment of the prophet
Joel! God WILL do great things!
What we are experiencing today is the fulfilment
of Bible prophecy. Isaiah 53,
Matthew 8 says, He was wounded for our
transgressions, bruised for our sins, and
because He was beaten we are healed!
Your salvation from sin, your healing from
sickness came through the very persecution
of Jesus! Because He was imprisoned,
tortured, crucified, only because of that,
the Scripture says, can we have forgiveness
of sin and healing from sickness.
Through the very persecution of Christ and
the early church, the Gospel has come to
you. Because Jesus was rejected, the
Gospel has come to you. Through persecution,
suffering and rejection, the Gospel has
come to your nation. It is not free. A price
has been paid. That’s why we rejoice in
persecution, when people attack us.
Through this, the church thrives in fire!
The people who opposed our evangelism
in the media have talked publicly about
my being in the stadium and of their fear of
the miraculous, I see that as prophetic:
God will do it!
Through the whole of my life from the time I
was born, God has always worked miracles!
God answers prayer! I have been
baptised in the Holy Ghost and fire! The
way to the blessing of God is by going into
the fire, step by step into the power of
God. That has been the experience of my
life. The fire becomes stronger and
stronger. Every day I receive more power
from God, walking into the fire, through
persecution, through difficulties. We have
to pray. We have to believe God. And
God will answer prayer.
Pray for the government, pray for those
who oppose us – God will move through
the Holy Ghost! God will deliver Armenia.
Whatever nation you are from, pray for the
Holy Ghost, and God will come into YOUR
nation. The church began in fire on the day
of Pentecost and the church will end in fire
at the return of Christ! Jesus will come back
to a church on fire! Pray! We have to evangelise!
All our meetings in Armenia were broadcast live on the internet. When
we got home an email from a certain viewer was waiting for us with
her testimony:
I want to thank you for going to Armenia and obeying the Lord, for giving
glory to Him and for getting people to repent and to ask for forgiveness
before you began to talk about healing – as being born
again of the Holy Spirit is the most important healing! Now I
want to tell you of wonderful personal healings as a result of
my watching the internet service! Jesus healed me of my
painful hip – all pain has gone! I was waking up in the night,
every time I moved or turned over because of the pain in my
hip. It hurt when I walked. Now my hip is completely healed by
Jesus – just as if He has given me a new hip! Praise God! Also I
had terrible shooting pains in my eye and left side of my head,
and for the last two weeks my eyelid had swollen up very
badly, my eye was very itchy and I felt very, very exhausted. In
the healing time in the service in Armenia on the internet, I put
my hand on my head and also on my heart (for emotional
healing as well), but did not even think of asking for my hip to
be healed!!! As I put my hand on my eye and left side of my
head, it was just as if Jesus was cutting out something bad –
then such peace! Also my hip was healed! Next day I went for
a walk to the beach with my husband – it was wonderful!

Jesus or a ‘prophet’?
Newspapers and magazines regularly
carry their popular horoscope page – it
tells you, in a generalised way, what
your star sign has in store for you
today/this week/this month. Many of
these publications also carry advertisements
for someone who will tell you personally,
in more detail, what your future
holds according to the stars. People ask:
“What sign were you born under?” Even
I know from childhood what horoscope
‘sign’ I was ‘born under’! But the fact is, I
have been born again under the sign of
the cross!
It is the cross of Christ which determines
my future. My past is gone, I have been
delivered from its every curse, I have forgiveness
of sins, new life. My future is written
in the Word of God, in His promises
and blessings – I can read it for myself!
God has a plan and a purpose for me.
Through the blood of Christ I have the
right to enter directly into my Father’s
Presence, I can boldly stand before His
throne of grace to receive His mercy
and His grace to help me in my time of
need! – Hebrews 10:19 & 4:16. And I can
ask for wisdom, and God will give it me!
– James 1:5.
Yet many Christians run round conferences,
seeking ‘words’, consulting
‘prophets’ hoping to find out what their
future holds – in a way parallel to the
secular world. ‘Will I get my new house,
my new job? Will I marry? Will I serve
God in a mighty way? Will God heal
me? Will my sorrow end? Has God told
you something that He wants to say to
me?’
The Israelites in the desert threw away
the greatest privilege they ever had. Not
only Moses, but the people too could
hear the voice of God in the thunder. But
they didn’t want it: Moses, you speak to
us and we will listen, but we don’t want
to hear God for ourselves! – Exodus
20:19. Don’t be like the Israelites! Jesus
died so that you need not be afraid of
God, but have a living, trusting relationship
with Him – don’t give this privilege
away to somebody else!

again in the very early days of the
Pentecostal movement in Great Britain
and his father became one of the
founders and a great teacher in the Elim
Pentecostal Churches under George
Jeffreys. From his father’s experience
and from his own many years in ministry,
David writes to you who are anxious and
want to know what your future holds:

In the pioneer days of the Pentecostal
Movement in Britain, certain theological
points caused my father great concern,
one of which was the position of the
‘prophet’ in the New Testament Church.
The danger is that some Christians take
the wrong direction in their lives. How do
you search for the will of God for some
specific part of your life? My father
always used to teach me the importance
of ‘sanctified common sense’! In
other words Christians ought to have a
clearer knowledge of what is right or
wrong than unbelievers because of the
influence of the Holy Spirit, who will ‘lead
us into all truth’.
There are many times in our lives when
we are uncertain as to the direction we
should take. What I have always done is
first to pray – then seek confirmation of
what I feel in my spirit after prayer.
Usually that confirmation comes through
God’s Word. If combining prayer with His
Word confirms the witness in my spirit,
then I will go forward confidently. Often
what God is asking me to do is confirmation
of what is already in my heart. The
Bible says, ‘Can two walk together
except they are in agreement?’ If we
are walking with the Lord, then our
hearts should be in tune with His. King
David asked guidance from the prophet
Nathan – who said, ‘Do what is in your
heart to do.’
If I hear a word of prophecy from someone
which confirms what I already
believe, that’s fine. But I have never
taken direction in my life simply based
on some ‘prophecy’ given. Yes many
people have given me prophecies, but I
have never changed direction because
of them. – Some were so way off what
God was saying to me! – I have only
taken note if they confirmed what I
already knew! I need to be in a
personal relationship with
the Lord and, if so, He will
speak to me direct! If He
has to use someone
else, then I would question
as to what has
come between us, that
we are no longer in personal
communication!
In the Old Testament
Israel had direction from
prophet, priest and king.
The king was the government;
the priest ministered
the spiritual requirements God
demanded; the prophet was

a clear spiritual leader, the voice of God
to the people. Whether it was Elijah at
Carmel, Elisha with the miracles, Joel,
Jeremiah or Nehemiah – they all
warned, commanded and spoke as the
confirmed Word of God. But even in
those days, the Bible warned us to
beware of false prophets.
There is a danger today people are anxiously
looking to fortune-tellers. The use
of horoscopes, printed daily in newspapers,
is symptomatic of the troubled,
uncertain age in which we live. Don’t let
us, who know the Lord and His wisdom,
get caught up in using so-called ‘words
of prophecy’ to direct our lives as if they
were a form of ‘spiritual’ horoscope. Our
God-driven, purposeful lives should be
evidence to a stressful, unbelieving
world that God is in control and our lives
are planned by Him. The Bible tells us
that, ‘The steps of a good man are
ordered by the Lord – He knows the way
that I take’. Even my family recognise
that everything in my life has been part
of His master plan: step by step into the
will of God.
Of course I recognise the gift of prophecy,
one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit,
but this must be in the context of the
other gifts of the Spirit. But the office of
the Old Testament ‘Prophet’, as of the
‘Priest’, ended with the beginning of the
Church. The Bible says He has made us
all, ‘Kings and Priests’ – Revelation 1:6.

TOTAL
DELIVERANCE!

We receive a lot of correspondence
and questions about the ‘deliverance’
ministry. This is our position – total deliverance
has been accomplished in
Christ.
The Bible is clear that sin entered the
world through Adam, and because of
his actions, we are born in sin and are
affected by sin. However, the Bible
teaches that salvation from sin comes
through Christ – and once we receive
this salvation, sin has no hold over our
lives.
Romans 5:15-19 says in the Living Bible
translation: ‘For this one man, Adam,
brought death to many, but this one
man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness
to many through God’s mercy. Adam’s
sin brought the penalty of death to
many, while Christ freely takes away
sins and gives glorious life instead…
Adam caused many to be sinners
because he disobeyed God, and
Christ caused many to be acceptable
to God because He obeyed.’
Once we come to Christ, repent and
receive His salvation, we become new
creations without a past – our ancestors
can’t affect us, and the enemy has lost
his power over our lives! Paul teaches
in 2 Cor 5:17, ‘we are a new creation,
old things are passed away, all things
are made new!’ This is again shown in
Col 2:11-13 where Paul says, ‘we have
put off the sins of the flesh… buried
with Him in baptism… risen with Him by
faith in God who also raised Him from
the dead.’ So our salvation is clear.
Jesus said for good reason, ‘you must
be born again.’ How? By dying to the
old life we had before Christ. We are
baptised into His death (total immersion)
and come out of the water just as
Christ came out of the grave! This is the
moment when we receive our ‘eternal
life’ through Christ. Not when we die or
go to Heaven – but here and now! I
have eternal life, and although my
body may die of old age, my life will
continue for eternity!
At the point of salvation followed by
baptism, we become new – a divine
exchange takes place: Jesus takes our
sins and we receive Christ’s resurrect-

ed, eternal life. In Gal 3:13-14, Paul says
that Christ became cursed – He took
ALL our curses on Himself on the cross –
and we are now blessed! When we
receive Christ, all curses are broken,
chains are gone, the past erased.
Christ HAS redeemed us from the curse!
Salvation through Christ is a finished
work – we need no ‘add-ons’. It’s done
– complete, finished. Anything less
denies the truth of God’s Word and
makes Christ’s sacrifice in vain!!
Isaiah 53 teaches that God laid on
Jesus the guilt and sins of every one of
us… It was the Lord’s good plan to
bruise Jesus and fill Him with grief so
that when His soul had been made an
offering for sin, then He would have a
multitude of children…
At the point of salvation, we receive
the spirit of adoption by which we cry,
‘Abba Father’ (Rom 8:15). – This means
we now are the sons and daughters of
God – our ‘bloodline’ comes from
Christ, not from our ancestors!
Whatever our ancestors may have
done, NO generational curse has
power over our lives! We are a new
creation – literally re-created – all past
mistakes and sins forgiven! We are
NEW! Romans 6:11 says we are dead to
sin and alive in Christ. This simply
means, the past has no more power
over us!
What we are saying is this – there is no
generational curse, no demonic influence,
that has power over those who
are in Christ! Yes, Christians sin. The
Apostle Paul said the things he should
not do, he does… and he adds, ‘who
will free me from my slavery to this
deadly lower nature? Thank God! It has
been done by Jesus Christ our Lord! He
has set me free!’ (Rom 7, Living Bible).
The Word of God teaches that when
we as Christians sin, we should confess
our sins and God is faithful to forgive
us… it is perfectly proper for God to do
this for us because Christ died to wash
away our sins (1 John 1:9, Living Bible).
Jesus has won the victory – He has paid
the price – He HAS redeemed us! For
me the most powerful phrase in the
Bible is when Jesus, on the cross, shouts
“IT IS FINISHED!” – At that very moment,
Jesus had done it all, the devil was
defeated, curses broken – and we are
made righteous and approved in
God’s sight! – This is why the deliverance
ministry and ancestor teaching
are not appropriate. We need faith in
the finished work of the cross. We
must get back to an understanding
of the POWER of salvation! – The
moment you believe the lie that as a
believer you are nonetheless affected
by your ancestors and their sins,
you have made your faith ‘of no
effect’! Gal 5:1-5 says you have ‘fallen
from grace and Christ has become
of no effect to you’! – We must get
back to the simplicity of the true
Gospel message of salvation: when
Jesus said “It is finished” on the cross – it
literally was finished! – Nothing else is
required! Only faith to accept this truth.
(Gal 5:6).
If a Christian needs ‘deliverance ministry’
then we question whether they
have ever believed and understood
the power of the cross – or even the
love God has for them! Yes, Jesus said
we would cast out demons (Mark
16:17). – But the demons cannot be in
Christians, if they have believed and
are saved! If you will repent and
believe, you will receive forgiveness,
and you will receive the Holy Spirit!
(Acts 2:38)! The cross gives each one of
us power over the devil. – The New
Testament teaches that ‘greater is He
that is in us, than he that is in the
world!’ (1 John 4:4)!
And for those of you who need inner
healing for the wounds of the past, we
would comfort you, that if you will forgive
those who have hurt you, as Christ
has forgiven you, your wound WILL
heal. That’s why Jesus came! He said in
Luke 4:18, quoting Isaiah 61:1, “The
Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because
He has anointed Me to preach the
Gospel, to heal the broken-hearted, to
deliver the captives… to set at liberty
those that are bruised!” Isaiah looked
forward to this freedom. We, as New
Testament believers, look back,
because Jesus said in Luke 4:21, “This
Scripture is fulfilled!”

SOMETHING I WANT TO
GIVE YOU!

In this magazine and through my
ministry, I want to pass on to you
not what I preach, but what I
have experienced. It’s something
very strong – it’s a revolutionary
life, a revolutionary power through
the finished work of the cross.
In Acts 3, after Jesus had risen
from the dead and had appeared
to His disciples, after He had
ascended into Heaven and sent
the Holy Spirit on them, Peter and
John went up to the Temple to
pray. Outside the gate they saw a
man born lame. He wanted money. Peter
said to him, “I have no money, but I want
to give you what I have!” I also have a
life-time’s experience of the amazing
power of God – I want to share this with
you.
The whole life of Jesus was a miracle from
beginning to end, from the miracle of His
birth, the miracles He performed, finally
the miracle of His death. Jesus died on
the cross, but don’t make the mistake of
saying wicked men killed Him. He was not
killed, but died by the same miracle
power with which He was born – gladly,
voluntarily giving His life in order to break
the curse of sin and death, to set us free.
That’s why God sent Him into the world to
live as you live, to suffer and to die,
because He saw the desperation of the
world. The only hope, the only way of
absolute deliverance is Jesus. Only Jesus
can calm the torment, mend broken
hearts, only Jesus can set men free. This is
why I am determined to know only one
thing in my ministry – the power and the
glory of Jesus’ Name!
The early church was strongly persecuted
(Acts 5). Peter, Paul and others were
thrown into prison. Why? The church was
persecuted because they dared to
believe the greatest miracle that had ever
happened: the miracle that Jesus rose
from the dead, and through resurrection
gave us that same ‘born again’ experience.
He gave His life, but in three days
He was raised by the power of the Holy
Spirit, He came out of that tomb, because
He had overcome the curse of sin and
death! And because the disciples
believed He was alive – for that, they
were persecuted! There are plenty of
people today who do not want to
believe the resurrection or the power of
the miraculous today. The truth of the
Bible is that death is not the end, that
there is a day of resurrection for all, when
every man who has ever lived must give
an account of their lives before God’s
judgement seat. And unless they have
asked for forgiveness – not after death
but before death – their end is a second
death, an eternity in hell without God. But
the Bible teaches that for those of us who
have repented, we are already born
again; the resurrection is a door, we enter
into the Kingdom of God and we shall
never die. For us who believe, there is no
second death, but resurrection into glory
in the Kingdom of God!
The reason I want to tell you about Peter
and John is that they were ordinary men
like you and me. They were hard working
fishermen, but something changed them:
their encounter with Jesus Christ! When
they began to see the miraculous power
that God the Father had given to Jesus,
then they realised who He really was!
When Peter cried out, “Oh Jesus, I am a
sinner, forgive me” – his life was changed!
The New Testament tells us that, although
Jesus was the Son of God, before He
could begin His ministry of the miraculous,
He Himself had to be baptised, immersed,
both in water and in the power of the
Holy Spirit. Physically and spiritually Jesus
had to experience the power of the Holy
Spirit. And He promised that when He
ascended to Heaven, He would send the
same Holy Spirit on these ordinary men.
Jesus said, “You see all the miracles I do,
how the deaf hear, the lame walk and
even the dead are raised to life!” –
Humanly these miracles are impossible!
But Jesus said, “When you have
received the fire of the Holy Spirit, you
will see and do greater miracles than
these!”
The disciples did indeed receive the
power of God; they were filled with
the same fire, the same power as
Jesus, the gift of evangelism! This
man in Acts 3 was crippled from
birth. Peter said, “In the Name of
Jesus, get up and walk!” And he
did! We can have the same
power and authority as Peter
had. – He had been with Jesus! You need
a personal experience with Jesus, then He
will give you the same gifts of the Holy
Spirit! How is it that at 78 years old, I
have the energy, the fire of a young
man – no, even more? Because I have
the dynamic and the power and the fire
of the Holy Spirit! Only this power
changed me. You can receive this same
power, it is given because we believe
Christ – Galatians 3:1-9.
Once, in 1994, I preached in a maximum
security prison in Siberia – all 1400 inmates
came, of whom 200 serial murders and
400 serial sex offenders! The commanding
officer challenged me, “Your God cannot
change these men!” I told the men, “If I
let you out, within 3 months the same
demons that drove you to crime, will drive
80% of you back inside. It’s statistics. Then I
preached Christ, the Son of God that I
know, who loves the sinner. A miracle
happened – all 1400 repented! Some of
the greatest evangelists in Russia today
were converted that day in that prison!
One of them, Sasha, has the largest prison
ministry in Siberia, with 115 men working
under him, and another 20 of those convicts
are now pastors! – Those criminals
became the pastors, preachers and
evangelists! Not a long deliverance ministry,
not ‘Christian psychology’, but simple
faith in Christ set them free from their
demons! The Holy Spirit changed them as
the Bible says, ‘when they believed!’
No sin can enter the kingdom of God.
How can sinners enter the Kingdom of
God? Only when they confess their sin,
ask for forgiveness and believe Christ will
save them.

GEORGIA – NEW DO
Our July evangelism in the Sport Palace in Georgia was
one of the greatest miracles in Europe! Nothing in recent
history has touched a government and a nation as this
crusade did!
It was a ‘first’ in the evangelical history of Georgia! Never
before had a major sport arena been taken for evangelism
– the owner received curses and threats because of
this! Never before had the national TV networks agreed to
carry advertising for any evangelical event – but all 3
national channels carried ours! Never before had any
evangelical Christian ever been invited to speak on live
breakfast TV – as David was by First National Channel on
the Thursday before the crusade! Never before had the
Georgian Orthodox Church been so shaken in its self-confidence
that it went on every TV network to warn the people
not to attend – as it did on the Friday of our opening
meeting! Never before had the President convened an
extraordinary session of Parliament on a Saturday – as he
did – to declare that the rights of religious minorities (the
evangelicals and our actual crusade) to be under the
protection of the Government of Georgia itself – against

all threats and intimidation! Never before had camera
crews from national TV networks ever attended and
filmed any evangelical service – but they all came to film
David’s evangelism, call to repentance and miracles!
Even the TV networks who were openly opposed to
evangelical faith – could only find good things to report
on their bulletins next day, including randomly interviewing
many – who testified to camera of their miracles of
healing!
In three days over 30,000 attended! Before this crusade

there were only 2000 evangelical believers in the capital
Tblisi, and another 2000 scattered across the country – so
that, even supposing every single one of these came, 6-
8000 unbelievers attended every night – and came forward
to repent! God used this evangelism – and the
events surrounding it – to lift a repressed minority group of
evangelical Christians into a force to be respected within
the nation with thousands of new converts and the
Government passing a decree to protect them!

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly, above what
we ask, think or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20.) – Infinitely
above and beyond our highest hopes and prayers! – The
Apostle Paul is talking about the ability and power of God
to answer prayer – finance, miracles of healing, everything!
More than we can ask!
This year, as I celebrate 60 years in ministry, I feel chal-
lenged by God to redouble my efforts to preach the
Gospel despite the economic situation – that is why I was
in Georgia, and that is why I will be in Lithuania in
October. I am believing for an extra one million (£ sterling)
over and above last year’s financial budget to pay for
the evangelism this year. If we really believe God can
work the miracle, His promise is, He is able to exceed
what we ask!
