It is great to see how they operate. “We have world-class players in the squad and going forward we should be looking to qualify for major tournaments. “It is one thing having a talented group of players but it is how you nurture that talent and how it fits together - preparation, hard work, a lot of things and different elements come into it. “We have found a way now, a settled formation and a way that the manager likes to operate that everyone has bought into and that is one of the positives we can carry on in that way. Another positive is how we all get on together. “Stephen (O’Donnell) has done really well in the games he has played. I am more concentrating on myself and what I can do, give a good impression when you are away, or with your club, and ultimately it is the manager’s decision. But when you get your chances, like the last camp, you have to try your best. The Sheffield Wednesday right-back has seven international caps “I get on with him really well, he’s a top guy, a fun character around the place. At the first camp he made me feel really welcome and I sit beside him on the plane and stuff. “Every position is competition for places, it is expected at that level and it is something players are used to with their clubs, every team has two if not three for each person. My remit is just to give my best when I get my chance.” And if he gets that opportunity in Qatar, he admits it will be the realisation of a dream. “You know, I used to love watching the Brazil sides of the past,” he said. “And there are always players who emerge from World Cups, like James Rodriguez who became a star overnight when he had a really good tournament for Colombia. “I remember looking at the talents coming through and everything about it really.
