TRAVEL WITH MERV BATES
Travel restrictions are still constantly changing and even
with a proposed “we can travel again” date of 17th May that
has been set, it still hasn’t been confirmed. I think there will
be quite a few changes and restrictions to come. The travel
industry is waiting for the Secretary of Transport to reveal
his plans on the 12th April.
If you are thinking of planning a holiday, then my advice
would be to go ahead and book for the summer be it here
in the UK or overseas. If you do, you will be ahead of the
game and once we all get the green light to go, I can almost
guarantee a huge rush to book and prices will skyrocket.
There have been huge cuts in flight seats, routes, hotel
and self-catering accommodation. UK breaks have had a
bumper year already and very little left for the main school
holidays this summer.
Remember, when booking with me, I will ensure you are
aware of the flexible booking terms before you confirm
any travel arrangements. I will always help to amend your
booking, postpone and if the FCO advises against all travel
I will be on hand to help you cancel your plans and obtain a
refund or a credit note for future travel. You will always be
advised of the latest local government restrictions and entry
requirements too.
You will see in the coming days and weeks more information
regarding Digital Green Certificates or Green Passes. These
apparently will be our “OK to go” system after we have had
both vaccinations.
More and more travel companies and especially cruise
lines are requesting that their customers have received both
vaccinations and full travel insurance with COVID cover
before they will allow travel. Already cruise ships that have
been moored off the south coast of the UK and further
afield are preparing to sail shorter 3-7-day cruises in and
around the British Isles. Personally, I think these will be
very popular and sell quickly.
Bookings for 2022 are starting to pick up now too. Ski has
seen a huge rush especially as this year’s ski season has near
enough been cancelled. Low cost airlines have released their
schedules for the whole of 2022, which is almost unheard
of, but the demand is there. The UK’s major tour operators
have also released their 2022 programmes, and did you
know that if you are thinking of a trip to Florida in 2022 you
can book now and secure early availability. This is great
news for families, especially for the school holidays.
Please be confident in booking, simply ensure you are
aware and understand any updated booking conditions and
the flexible terms. More importantly let’s have something
to look forward to.
As always please get in touch with any questions.
