The Career Academies are small learning communities within Battle Creek Central High School (BCCHS), where students experience projects and coursework tailored to their career field of interest. In these “schools within a school,” every student chooses an academy where they experience topic-based and hands-on learning to graduate career, college and community ready. WHAT ARE THE <strong>BCCHS</strong> CAREER PATHWAYS?<br />

<strong>BCCHS</strong> includes two <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Academies</strong>, each of which houses four career pathways for you to select<br />

from as your area of focus.<br />

Your high school experience begins with<br />

Freshman Academy, where you’ll get mentorship<br />

from upperclassmen to ease your transition to high<br />

school. In Freshman Academy, students also get to<br />

experience and sample what different academies<br />

and career paths have to offer.<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s in the Health Care or Nursing<br />

pathways have access to <strong>BCCHS</strong>’s state of<br />

the art health care simulation lab. The lab<br />

gives you the tools and expertise you need<br />

to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant or<br />

Emergency Medical Technician certificate.<br />

Here, you will learn real-life health care<br />

career skills, using:<br />

Early/Middle College and Dual Enrollment Opportunities<br />

Take Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and Kellogg Community College (KCC) courses for<br />

high school and college credit! Choose from select Dual Enrollment courses with GVSU and Dual<br />

Enrollment or Early Middle College courses with KCC.<br />

Link Crew<br />

The Link Crew freshman orientation and transition program is designed to welcome and support you<br />

by assigning you to a junior or senior Link Leader as a mentor during your first year at <strong>BCCHS</strong>. This<br />

Link Leader is a responsible older student who was hand-selected from a large pool of applicants<br />

and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus. This<br />

student will help guide you as you navigate your new school, making sure you’re comfortable.
