David Michael Amaral
September 29, 1949 - May 3, 2021
David passed away peacefully at
Jubilee Manor holding hands with
his beloved wife & life long partner
Liz Amaral following a long journey
with Fronto-temporal Dementia
and Cancer.
Family came first for David and Liz.
They were a powerful parenting duo
creating a safe and vibrant space
for their children to thrive. Papa to
his kids and grandkids, David was
always ready to play and teach. He
made a game out of building rock
walls and fences on the farm. Though
he wasn’t as convincing with other
chores! He loved to laugh and would
share many a groaner, the precursor
to today's Dad jokes. Papa will be
remembered for his bear hugs and
kind, encouraging words. He gave
us our roots and our wings.
David has been an active member of
the Nelson community for 49+ years.
He was involved in the community
co-op, environmental committees,
church work and social justice.
David was an avid cyclist. He rode
his bike to work, even
in the winter, before
bike commuting was
cool. He will be remembered
fondly by those he nursed and
worked alongside at KLH. He shared
his love of music as a drummer with
Second Wind and the house band
for Mountain Lakes Assisted Living.
He enjoyed many forms of art
- painting, drawing and had carved
a jade heart for each member of his
family.
David is survived by his wife of 50
years, Liz, their 3 children Marcia
(Kurt Gervais), Naomi (Cory Crowe),
and Joe (Jayme Amaral) and 4 grandchildren;
Hayley, Brenna, Penelope &
Sophia and his brother Anthony and
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by parents Manuel and Dorothy
and his brothers Dennis, Michael
and Craig.
In keeping with the current COVID-19
situation, a small family funeral has
been held. Thank-you to the outstanding
Nurses and Caregivers at
Jubilee Manor and Mountain Lakes
for the grace and compassion they
showed our much loved Papa in his
stay with them. We have a deep appreciation
for Dr. Kirsten & Dr. Janz
for their excellent medical care and
attention.
The family also thanks David’s many
friends for their messages and notes
of support. In lieu of flowers, please
consider a donation to KLH.
Be still and know that I am God.
Water Main Flushing
Shaver’s Bench, Miral Heights,
Glenmerry & Waneta
Starting on Monday, May 17, 2021 until the middle of June, the
City of Trail Utilities Department will be flushing water mains in
Shaver’s Bench, Miral Heights, Glenmerry and Waneta.
Water main flushing
is a necessary maintenance
technique used
to clean and disinfect
the water distribution
pipes and reservoirs,
and to maintain
proper water flow and
quality.
During the flushing
process, chlorinated
water will be temporarily
supplied to these
areas from the Water
Treatment Plant and
a slight chlorine smell
may be detected for
up to one month. A
slight chlorine smell
and discoloured water
are normal during this
process and are not
health hazards.
SUDOKU
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken
down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the
numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and
box. Each number can appear only once in each row,
column and box. You can figure out the order in which
the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues
already provided in the boxes. The more numbers
you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
