38 160 A rare sterling silver basket by William Edwards, Melbourne decorated with a filigree work of birds, grape and vine leaves, with a conforming blue glass liner marked to base ‘WALSH & SONS, MELBOURNE’ with makers mark W.E. retailed by Walsh & Sons, Melbourne 18cm high NOTES William Edwards arrived in July 1857 from London. He is listed in the Melbourne directory at 129 Collins Street East in 1859. Exhibited at the International Exhibition in 1861.
