Warrior Athletics Like many communities across the world, Life Pacific Athletics has seen and experienced the struggles of COVID-19. However, LPU Athletics continues to adapt, grow, and thrive through unprecedented circumstances. Thankfully, six of our sports programs had successful seasons with limited interruption due to COVID, and our programs made strides in the GSAC and at the national level. • Two of our Women’s Wrestlers went to the National Championships • Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs finished their respective seasons at the top of the GSAC • Women’s Volleyball finished the year with their best finish in the GSAC in program history. • Six Warrior Athletes earned GSAC scholar athlete honors Introducing Cameron Riley, Director of LPU Soccer and Head Coach Coming to LPU from San Diego Christian College, Coach Cameron Riley brings over 10 years coaching experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and has a wealth of experience developing Christ-centered athletes on and off the field. Cameron and his wife Cathryn are excited to be a part of the LPU community. Alyssa Salgado and Adam Saavedra both received the Cliff Hamlow Champions of Character Award. Breaking New Ground for Beach Volleyball As a competitive collegiate sport, beach volleyball has grown exponentially over the past decade. Currently, there are 90 NCAA schools with beach volleyball teams and the NAIA historically follows the NCAA in sporting trends. With eight GSAC teams in existence, LPU excitedly looks to enter the playing field during the 21-22 season. This spring, renovation began with the creation of a new sand court and an upgrade to the existing sand volleyball court. LPU anticipates expanded recruiting and student athlete development opportunities with the addition of this up and coming college sport. LPU Athletics’ mission has been and will always be to serve as an outlet to advance Life Pacific University through intercollegiate competition that promotes integrity, discipline, and Christ-like character development.
