Dear Friends,
As I near the milestone of serving as LPU president for
24 months, I reflect on the incredible challenges and
opportunities we’ve all encountered over the past year.
Despite the disruptions, LPU has remained “open for
business” declaring this a time for each of us to rise with
courage and shine in the world. Faculty and staff have
learned that we are able to be strategically responsive
through adaptation, innovation, and prayer. Significant
initiatives, programs, and partnerships have been
birthed during this season! Even more, though, is what
we have gained. This extraordinary year has brought
us closer to Christ and a renewed commitment to our
mission, vision, and values as a Biblical University.
While it may seem as if the world is a dark place right
now, LPU is holding onto its mandate to be a beacon of
light, hope, and truth. I love what Aimee Selby, 2020-
2021 Professor of the Year writes, “…We are a Lighthouse. We, the staff, faculty, students, and alumni of LPU
are the thousands of individual flames that make up the Lighthouse of International Foursquare Evangelism
(L.I.F.E.), collectively reflecting the Light of the World in all His brilliance amid this storm. LPU is not merely a
collection of buildings – LPU is you and me. We are LIFE. We are Lighthouse people. And we were made for the
storm.” I hope you take a moment to enjoy the rest of Aimee’s devotional in this issue of Carry On.
People of the light. That is who we are. In his letter to the church in Ephesus the Apostle Paul writes, “For once
you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For the fruit of
light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.” (Ephesians 5:8-9 NLT). I’m convinced as we educate
biblically grounded men and women, we will see impact for the kingdom of God in the generations to come.
LPU and LPU-VA both offer on-ground and online regionally accredited education with flexible options. As
our dedicated teams serve, equip, and graduate Spirit-empowered world changers, LPU is able to further
strengthen our reach around the world. God is so good.
Our mission is clear. Life Pacific University is an institution of biblical higher education existing for the
transformational development of students into leaders prepared to serve God in the Church, the workplace,
and the world. I value and appreciate your commitment to cultivate and champion the University’s mission. It is
because of God’s faithfulness and the guidance of His Word, we step boldly into the future.
I am optimistic for what lies ahead of us. Powerful things are happening on our campuses, in the lives of our
students, and all around the world. LPU’s light is shining bright. As you read through the articles, stories, and
updates in this issue of Carry On, I hope you are also encouraged and inspired to bring light to your corner of
the world.
Rise with Courage,
