This generation of Nigerians lacks ks godly role models, Anglican Primate e tells father
athers
By Abayomi Adeshida
rchbishop Metropoli
Atan, Primate of All Nigeria
and Bishop of Abuja,
Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba,
has urged fathers to be godly
role models for their children
by making Jesus their
standard so they can live
lives that would please God
and raise a generation that
would do things with the
fear of God.
In a sermon titled ‘2021
Fathering Sunday: Word
from The Primate’, which he
delivered at the Cathedral
Church of The Advent, Anglican
Communion, Abuja,
last Sunday, the Primate
reasoned that the surest way
to find lasting peace in the
society is starting from
peace in the family.
“As we celebrate, I exhort
all our fathers to make
Christ their standard, stand
in faith, walk in obedience
and live to please God.
What this generation lacks
in the world is godly role
model”, he said.
“Therefore, our men must
rise to become the alternative
to what is being paraded
among the celebrities
and politicians in the social
media and the popular culture”.
In a chat with Sunday
the Light Bearers Society, held
at the Wesley Cathedral,
Olowogbowo, Lagos,
Oyadotun, however, called for
sober reflections, urging
Nigerians to love one another
and shun sin.
According to him, since
nothing is too big for God even
with the rising cases of
kidnapping, banditry and
terrorism, the nation would
overcome.
TV, John Okorocha, “Moreplex
TV is for us in Nigeria
and it must be available for
every Nigerian that’s why we
are coming up with different
customer friendly promo that
enable our brand of pay TV
decoder gets to every home”
he said
“Aside the Lease Option,
there is 50percent discount on
instant purchase of our decoder,
instead of N16,000, customers
pay N8,000 and go
home with the decoder. Also
the customers get the dish and
UAA wants Urhobo native as PTI boss
A
socio-cultural group,
Urhobo Advancement
Agenda, UAA, has kicked
against an alleged attempt to
foist a non-Urhobo indigene
as the substantive CEO of PTI,
“despite the overabundance of
core Urhobo professionals
eminently qualified for the
position.”
The group in a statement by
its National President, Mr
Theophilus Akpocha said:
“The Urhobo have over the
years been grossly
marginalised in the
appropriation of the nation’s
commonwealth in the midst of
playing host to enormous
revenue resources, oiling the
wheel of growth and
development of the country.
of Ovwian for the kind gesture.
“ We are grateful to you
for this modern infrastructural
development to our
Ovworhokpokpor inspite of
the current challenges facing
our dear country. “, he said.
He said the street lights by
Rotary was the first in the area,
assuring that they would maintain
them.
Speaking further, Ogami
appealed to the state government
to give the area good
roads, pleading that Rotary
club of Ovwian should also
join in appealing to the state
government for the road.
“ Our roads are extremely
in bad condition for decades,
government should
come to our aid. Government
should give Ovworhokpokpor
roads and other adjoining
Communities “, he said.
He explained that
Nigerians are expected to be
God’s light bearers in
thoughts, words and actions
as well win new souls
through the propagation of
the word of God.
Highlights of the day were
donations from the Chief
Launcher, Professor Adewale
Solarin, and the decoration
of newly appointed officers,
including the grand patron
of the society, Kemi Thomas.
N6,000. We embark on all this
to make sure that every Nigerian
has access to our pay
TV.” He explained.
“On our decoder is a free
to air sports dedicated channel
named Top Sports TV, the
sports tv is bringing top
matches into Nigeria homes,
it has started broadcasting
live matches of Brazilian
Championship, Seria A
since May 29 and it will continue
to broadcast live Euro
2020 tournament till July 11
when the tournament comes
to an end.
“UAA is using this medium
to call on the appropriate
authorities in the succession
management of the institute
to ensure that the pool of
qualified candidates of
Urhobo extraction is duly
accorded the Right of First
Refusal as it is done in other
notable federal institutions in
the country.”
President of the Rotary Club of Ovwian,
Rotarian Jonathan Akatakpor (left) making
donations to the community.
Vanguard after the service,
a member of the church, Dr.
Kayode Ajulo, noted, “I wish
that the sermon delivered today
by the Primate is circulated
among all fathers in
the world.
“He was very correct when
he pointed out that the greatest
gift we have are people
and not things, especially
our fathers. Fathers occupy
a very strategic place in the
purpose of God for our time
and generation”.
During the service, the Primate
performed the rededication
ceremony of the Executive
Members of the Cathedral
Men’s Fellowship
led by its President, Mr. Ayo
Ipinmoye.
The first engagement of
the body was the announcement
of N500, 000
scholarship for indigent
students in the cathedral as
well as the presentation of
a posthumous award to the
Founder of Sauki Hospital,
Abuja and one time gubernatorial
aspirant in Kogi
State, the late Dr. Gabriel
