THE PERFORMINGARTS SHOWCASEOur school entered twoDance pieces called‘Ko wai au?’ and ‘AKV’into YOUDANCE2021.This is the first time thatour school has enteredsuch a prestigiousDance event. Our level1DAN and 3DAN classesexperienced what itmeans to perform ona professional dancestage.They gainedperformance experiencealongside other schoolslike MAGS, MRGS,and Marcelin College.Our Level 3 Dancersclosed the show forthe evening which is astatement in itself.It was a triumphantreturn to the MāngereArts Centre for our2021 Performing ArtsShowcase!A celebration of our50th Jubilee Yearand with a theme of‘Celebrating Diversity’,our Showcase featuredstunning performancesby our talented dancers,vocalists and dramastudents. Highlightsincluded energetic &passionate cultural,contemporary &hip-hop dances,confident and powerfulperformances from ourvocal groups and hardhittingperformancesby our junior dramateam. The showcasetruly represented ourstudents’ creativity, withmany performancesincluding originalchoreography andoriginal songs.Congratulations toall our performersfor committing toexcellence on the stageand for representingMāngere College, andyourselves, with pride.Many thanks to whanau,friends and supporterswho came along towatch the shows.Scan the QR Code formore photos.YOUDANCEAPOPS DISCOVERYCONCERTPLAY IT STRANGE SONGWRITINGCOMPETITIONCongratulations totwo of our Year 11songwriters, MeliameFunaki and JasmineLemoa, for placing asfinalists in the Play itStrange SongwritingCompetition. As a part oftheir prize, they receivedfunding to professionallyrecord their originalsong, “Colour of Love”.On Tuesday 18thMay 30 Year 10 Musicstudents attended theAuckland PhilharmoniaOrchestra’s (APO)Discovery Concert atAuckland Town Hall.The city of Vienna wasvery much consideredthe “Hollywood” ofmusicians 250 years agoand this performanceevent explored how thecity influenced variouscomposers and theirworks.
