Curious Eatery in
Boughton Monchelsea has an exciting
menu of dining experiences on offer and is
commited to using only the best ingredients sourced
as locally as possible. One farm they use for meat is just
one mile away, and they get fish from local fisherman and
family-run fishmongers. Another family-run business provides
their year round fruit and vegetables (which is a whole two miles
away!) but in the summer they source vegetables from their own
allotment so they’re as fresh as can be! All this super fresh and ethically
reared produce is then prepared by a passionate kitchen team who
take great interest in each ingredient, with a menu driven by nose to
tail cooking and zero waste. The menu is dynamic and changes daily
to make use of the produce available. It is influenced by the chefs’
experiences and travels – the colourful team has, between them,
experience everywhere from The Small Holding in Cranbrook
to Richard Branson’s private island! There are loads of lovely
local must-sees in the area including Leeds Castle and
Sissinghurst Castle Garden, but foodies may
appreciate Mereworth Vineyard and Yotes
Court Vineyard, in Mereworth.
The Olive Tree is run by
staff and volunteers who give
up their time so that profits can go
towards funding Hospices of Hope’s vital
hospice care. Knole Park is very close by and
wonderful for a local walk. This summer try
their delicious beetroot and feta burger with
homemade coleslaw and oven baked chips – an
‘almost’ healthy lunch, perfect when enjoyed
sat on the terrace in the sunshine! They like
to use local suppliers as much as possible,
prioritising fresh produce and handmaking
everything on site.
Geography geographytw.com
Geography is an intimate wine
bar on Tunbridge Wells High Street.
It’s owned and run by local Tunbridge Wells
couple Aubrey and Fleur whose love of both wine
and travel has inspired an extensive wine list that
draws from around the globe, while also championing
local producers. You can expect a great range of local
drinks from the likes of Balfour Winery, Gun Brewery
and Greensand Ridge, and cheese and charcuterie boards
featuring Alsop & Walker, Kingcott Dairy, North
Charcuterie, and Sussex Kitchen. They often run wine
tasting events and hope to be able to bring back their
acoustic Sunday Sessions from September, but they
are always ready with a warm welcome (with
the help of Harvey the chocolate lab)
from Wednesdays to Sundays.
