I am from Udaipur, India (a.k.a city of Lakes), living in Wellington, New Zealand with my wife. I am a software engineer and I very much enjoy problem solving like any other techie. Photography and videography are my alternate universe; it is the other me who loves capturing every little thing that surprises me as I try to keep a moment alive in my pictures and videos. I go by the name 'butterclick' online, it was a pun intended - thinking about camera clicks and the results being “as smooth as butter”. I am still searching for my area of interest, I like to explore different forms of photography. I love shooting nature as it varies and beautifies with every changing month. In the future, I would also love to travel and capture more festive portraits across the globe. TELL US ABOUT THIS PHOTO... I was at the city of Hyderabad in the state of Telangana, India in August 2018 for “Bonalu” an annual Telugu festival which is celebrated at Golconda Fort. Bonalu is a Hindu Festival where the Indian Goddess Maha Kali is worshiped and celebrated to ward off diseases and usher in good health, peace, and prosperity. It’s an annual festival celebrated during July/ August in the twin cities Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana state, India. I was at the fort at 11am and monsoon was at its best, the gloomy weather creating perfect lighting conditions. In this photo the person represents Pothuraju who is considered the brother of the Mother Goddess. They wear a traditional red dhoti, ghungroo (bells) near their ankles, and apply turmeric to the body. Their NZPhotographer August 2021 5
