Admission <strong>of</strong> Non-Resident<br />
Students<br />
Prerequisites<br />
1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited<br />
college or university;<br />
2. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 30 earned semester credits<br />
in philosophy and 12 in undergraduate<br />
theology or religious studies in prescribed<br />
fields <strong>of</strong> study;<br />
3. Prerequisite familiarity with the western<br />
intellectual tradition in history, arts and<br />
literature, and communications and rhetoric<br />
as obtained through appropriate<br />
coursework in these areas.<br />
The Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Theology</strong> reviews<br />
applications <strong>of</strong> prospective non-residents and<br />
notifies the applicant <strong>of</strong> the decision.<br />
Candidates for Priestly<br />
Ordination<br />
After completion <strong>of</strong> all pre-theology requirements,<br />
all candidates, regardless <strong>of</strong> degree<br />
program, must complete the entire cycle <strong>of</strong><br />
theology courses. No exceptions to this policy<br />
will be made other than in certain cases<br />
involving seminarians who are 50 years <strong>of</strong> age<br />
or older. The entire pre-theology and theology<br />
curriculum, designed to be completed in<br />
six years, is as follows. The number <strong>of</strong> semester<br />
credit hours per course is three unless otherwise<br />
noted.<br />
Admission Requirements<br />
The applicant should send the following to<br />
the Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Theology</strong> as soon<br />
as possible:<br />
1. Application form and fee;<br />
2. Official original transcripts from all<br />
previous high schools, colleges,<br />
universities, and theologates;<br />
3. Two letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation from<br />
persons in a position to judge the applicant’s<br />
aptitude for graduate-pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
theological studies. If a student is<br />
studying for ordained ministry in a<br />
particular church, an additional letter <strong>of</strong><br />
recommendation from an <strong>of</strong>ficial <strong>of</strong> that<br />
church is required;<br />
4. Latest TOEFL iBT scores and report,:<br />
(minimum required score <strong>of</strong> 91) taken<br />
within the past year, if applicant is a nonnative<br />
English speaker.<br />
