Kootenay-Columbia Federal Candidates All Candidates Event<br />
The <strong>Nelson</strong> and District Chamber of Commerce<br />
and <strong>Nelson</strong> at its Best are conducting a<br />
public online All-Candidates Election Forum<br />
on Wednesday <strong>Sept</strong>ember 15, 7 <strong>–</strong> 8:30 pm.<br />
Zoom online platform<br />
The forum, which will happen via Zoom<br />
online, will focus on critical social and<br />
economic issues, with the five candidates<br />
in attendance to express their reasons for<br />
running, what they and their parties are offering<br />
— and of course, to answer questions.<br />
To help set the stage for each issue being<br />
explored with the candidates, there will be a<br />
brief overview contributed by a local expert<br />
working in that aspect of community life.<br />
“These issue inputs from people actively<br />
engaged in making our community stronger<br />
are a great way to let the candidates hear<br />
what is important<br />
to local people, and<br />
where the challenges<br />
lie <strong>–</strong> and for voters to see and hear how the<br />
candidates think on their feet,” says George<br />
Chandler with the joint organizing group.<br />
“Selected topics will range from childcare to<br />
economic development, from Truth and Reconciliation<br />
to Covid recovery, from climate<br />
change to housing, from the opioid crisis to<br />
post-secondary education.”<br />
This forum will be co-hosted by the Bob<br />
Hall with the <strong>Nelson</strong> and District Chamber<br />
of Commerce and Kim Bater with <strong>Nelson</strong> at<br />
its Best.<br />
