FROM OUR PUBLISHEREvery year –in the pre-fall days –the memories return.I remember my first book satchel. Now they are obsolete;backpacks in multiple shapes, sizes, styles and prices have replacedthem.I remember my fat pencils and the oblong tablet with crisp linesthat told me how high to write the alphabet big letters and how smallto write the little ones. The pencils and tablet may still survive in someschools, but I’ve observed my young nieces and nephews with theiriPads and their schedules and assignments on an electronic screen.I watch the lines of carpools and the school buses unload thegrowing number of students. I remember my early environment ofMr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo and wonder what has alreadybeen programmed into these young minds. The media explosionhas multiplied the challenges for parents and teachers.When I think about those challenges, I remember the wisdomof God’s Word and want to etch it in the minds of all the younglearners: “Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” We whoare without power CAN turn to the Lord who has all power. HisWord says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everythingby prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests bemade known to God.”This verse is a must to remember for the sake of all the younglearners.
