& Highlighting Emerging artists
"There's original, one-of-a-kind
“The arts bring us joy, helps us express our values and
build bridges between cultures. The arts are also a
fundamental component of a healthy community. The
arts strengthen them socially, educationally, and
economically. The benefits persist even in difficult
social and economic times. The arts improve
individual well-being whether you are creating it or
viewing it,” - Artless Bastard Art Gallery
The mission for Artless Bastard Art Galley has
remained the same since it first opened its doors.
Since becoming a non-profit in May, owner and artist
Alexis Arnold said it will be able to connect with the
community in several new and unique ways.
"The goal of the Gallery is to give emerging artists a place to
showcase and sell their work and now with being a non-profit
we can focus on the education part of it too," said Arnold. "I
think there's a stigma behind galleries and museums that
maybe it's only for certain people and I think the previous
owners were trying to break those barriers down as well
because the arts are for everybody."
One of those education factors will include art classes the
community can take part in. The classes and workshops offer
the unique opportunity to support local artists who will then
teach the classes and share different techniques with people
wanting to learn and create their own art.
Artless Bastard Art Gallery is free and open to the public to
explore and features several local artists in group exhibitions.
The exhibitions include submitted artwork from artists across
the United States. Visitors of the Gallery can get involved with
voting for the Best In Show for each monthly theme. The
artist with the most votes is recognized with a $100 prize.
arts in depere
"As we grow as a non-profit, I want to be able to raise those
Growing
prizes to really support our local artists," said Arnold.
Artless Bastard Art Gallery is also hosting a series of solo
exhibitions for artists. This year, one of the six featured
includes local artist, Jenna Kast.
My art has been a part of public display in a few different ways.
It's been part of curated art shows, it's been on display as part
of showcases and this is my first solo show. Each way has its
own benefits that come with it but it is great to have all of
these different types of opportunities to put our work out
there," said Kast.
Arnold explained how the accomplishment of a solo exhibition
is unbelievably exciting but a huge undertaking for an artist. It
requires a lot of work and time from the artist to create several
works of cohesive art to showcase. Arnold adds that the gallery
takes care of the promotion for the exhibition so the artist can
simply focus on creating.
Kast added that she is excited to have her work
featured at Artless Bastard and she encourages other
aspiring artists to get involved but she said she
understands how it can be nerve-wracking.
"In the beginning, it can be really intimidating to put
your work out there and try and find opportunities.
You might feel like you're not deserving or that you
won't be chosen but something I have learned and
discussed with other local artists is that there are so
many opportunities out there and all you have to do
is reach out and ask someone because the people
who are responsible for displaying art and want to
have it up in their business or gallery are constantly
looking for people and they're ready and willing to
help prop artists up," explained Kast.
Kast's solo exhibition will be displayed at Artless
Bastard from August 19 to September 30th, 2021.

Arnold adds that it's important to support local artists and it can be
more affordable than some may expect. All of the artwork in the
gallery is for sale and can be purchased during your visit or online.
Most of the pieces can be shipped.
"There's original, one-of-a-kind artwork that is more affordable
than if you get a reproduction print at a big box store and I don't
think people sometimes understand that they can collect from local
artists," said Arnold.
If you see something you like, you can buy it and take it home the
same day or you can let the artist continue to display the artwork
until the end of the exhibition, which can allow the artist to earn
more votes for cash prizes.
Arnold added that she hopes to continue to have an impact on the
De Pere community with more art education and she sees a lot of
opportunity for the future to help keep local artists local and not
feel like they have to travel to a bigger city to be supported and
recognized.
"A lot of people come in and say they didn't know we were here and
they love seeing what we offer and I certainly hope that brings in
other galleries. The Mulva Center is getting built soon and that's
going to be a big draw for the arts and it's really exciting to see our
community embracing the arts and culture," said Arnold.
The Mulva Cultural Center is a fully funded project by De
Pere natives James and Miriam Mulva. The project is
expected to open in late spring or early summer of 2023
and bring in more than 100,000 people each year.
"The Mulva Cultural Center is really going to change the
dynamic of the area because they will be bringing traveling
shows and that will be really interesting and will give our
local artists more exposure and that's what I'm really
hoping for. We have so much to offer and De Pere can
really be known for its arts scene," explained Arnold.
in Collaboration with Brandi Krause & Dana Enderby
Written
into the vision and process of designer
Venture
Enderby with Dana Rose Design, part of
Dana
the Lewis Rose Design Collective.
This project was a custom build with a
returning client that was ready to build their
forever home. Dana worked one on one with the
homeowner and the builder (TCD Homes) from
the start with exterior selections down to the
final layer of art and accessories.
This homeowner loves a clean and classic
aesthetic so the team focused on elements that
felt modern but timeless. Dana loves presenting
finishes that have texture and character in a
modern way. You will see elements of stone and
rough-hewn wood matched with clean lines and
painted finishes. Lewis Rose Design Collective
used contrast to keep the neutral color palette
interesting and layered in with natural elements
and various shades of blue, the clients favorite
color.
All new projects begin with a consultation. Whether
it’s new construction, a remodel or room design, the
team schedules a two hour meeting to talk about the
project, determine what the homeowners are looking
for and to see if we are a good fit for one another.
Once they have developed the scope of work, a full
design is curated for the project and presented
along with samples, total estimates and visuals. After
the design has been approved, they fully manage the
project from start to finish. That includes
coordinating a contractor and trade work down to
final installation of furniture, art and accessories.
Dana states, “I love when a homeowner is seeking
a curated design for their home. When they want
the space or home to be a reflection of them and
the things they love, not just a generalized look
that they saw on TV or Pinterest.” Great
architecture, interesting color or a unique piece
of art in the homeowners collection can all be a
launching point for design inspiration.
As the designer, Dana is drawn to authentic
materials, quality furnishings, color and
interesting patterns. Her practice is not just
about updating a color palette or space planning.
It is about making sure a space brings a client joy
when they come home.
A client's involvement can vary based on the scope
of work but their client typically wants them to
fully develop the design and manage it to the end.
They have input the entire way through but they
often depend and trust them to make the right
decision for their home and design. It is really
about striking a balance between a client's taste
and needs and Lewis Rose Design’s expertise and,
of course, having a little bit of room to play.
Dana specializes in designing spaces that layer
distinctive patterns and vibrant color into modern
environments that are comfortable and livable.
Translating this design principle into an
individualized and relatable aesthetic that reflects
the client's taste is what she is most passionate
about.
If you are considering building or remodeling Dana
would recommend taking time to gather great
ideas, evaluate what is or isn’t working in your
current home or space and contact a designer,
builder, architect or trade as soon as possible. The
industry is booming right now and everyone is
booked out. This has never been an industry
where things happen fast and now projects can
take even longer.
The best trend is no trend. When the team seeks
inspiration from the h omeowner, they gain a
better understanding for how their space is used,
what their passions are and that ultimately leads
to a unique and personalized design that fits them.
Batman has got nothing on some of the situations Paul has worked
together over the fourth of July weekend to help an elderly woman
never showed up.
"At the end of the day, whatever it takes to get things done," said Grall.
HEALTHY WORKPLACE CULTURE CULTIVATES BUSINESS
Way
Dallaire
the
Dallaire Realty has a unique approach to buying and selling homes in Northeast Wisconsin. Opening its doors in 2011,
the team describes itself as a tech company that happens to sell real estate. Several factors set them apart from other
real estate companies and agents, but their secret weapon is their skill set, experience and workplace culture which
helps them to continuously put the client first.
We want to make the home buying process as easy and as stress-free
as possible," said Sarah Wallace, who is a Real Estate Consultant with
Dallaire Realty for five years.
Broker/Owner, Greg Dallaire, said they understand the process of
buying and selling a home can be confusing, overwhelming and
stressful but that's what their team is there for. He added that having
quality agents versus quantity sets their team and their clients up for
success. Dallaire Realty has 13 passionate and experienced real estate
agents.
"Having the best of the best in the business takes saying no more than
you say yes," said Dallaire. He added that each one of his agents sells
an average of 45 to 50 homes per year. According to the National
Association of Realtors, he added that the average number of homes a
real estate agent sells is seven. Each agent with Dallaire has a unique
background to them but with each agent selling dozens of homes a
year, they continue to gain more and more experience and
understanding of the many different situations that can happen when
buying and selling a home.
"In the real estate market, each transaction is
completely different, you don't know what issues may
come up. We have people on our team that have a
background in lending, mortgage officers, zoning and
planning, construction and homebuilding. We have
those resources internally so we can reach out to each
other instead of waiting to hear back," said Wallace.
Dallaire services the Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh and
North Woods areas. They have professional
photographers as well as FAA-licensed drone pilots.
Unique to them is its three full-time support staff,
which includes Paul Grall, the company's go-to person
when there's a crisis. Paul is an incredible and humble
problem-solver with more than 18 years of experience
in mortgage, an underwriter, closing manager and
processor.
"Every Batman needs a Robin," said Paul Grall, Dallaire
Realty's Closing Manager.
"We've always believed in not
discriminating on the price of the
home. We've never strayed from
that. You get our best quality no
matter the price of your home.
That's what the client deserves," said
Dallaire. What that means is if you
have a home selling for $50,000 you
get the same quality, aerial photos
and all the bells and whistles Dallaire
Realty provides with your listing as
the home selling for $500,000.
When you work with Dallaire, you're
not just a client but you become a
part of their growing community.
"More than 45% of our business
from last year came from either a
referral or past clients, which I think
is a testament to our process," said
Dallaire.
Each year those clients are treated
to a handful of community events
such as professional family
photoshoots in the park, a free
movie day with the family and golf
events.
"We really love doing it too and we
want to give value to our clients,"
said Dallaire. "It's just one way we
can show appreciation to our past
clients,"
In today's market, buying and
selling a home has become an
intense battleground with
properties getting an average of
four offers or more per house sold,
according to the NAR. The
competition in this industry
without people like the Dallaire
team can be tough and lead to
burnout. It can be a very
demanding industry, which is why
Dallaire focuses on its workplace
culture. They found that happy
agents work really well and create
happy customers time and time
again.
"Our agents have a better life and
service our customers better by
having what we call a showing
assistant so we work together as a
collaborative team to make sure,
say Sarah, can be able to go to her
daughter's soccer game," said
Dallaire.
Having the showing assistant can
help the client tenfold when it
comes to wanting to see a property
on a certain day. Thanks to the
team's collaboration skills, they
work around their schedules, so if a
client wants to see a home a
certain day, Dallaire can make it
happen with a showing assistant or
an agent so the client doesn't miss
out on a buying opportunity.
"We're master negotiators, we take our job
extremely seriously and represent our client's best
interest all the time and we share this knowledge
with our agents. We check in with each other
because we believe accountability is love. We want
to succeed but most importantly we want our clients
to succeed every time," said Dallaire.
Get to Know Dorothy.
I love humans who make me
forget I’m shy. I’ll fall for you if
you’re patient with me and make
me feel safe. I need some time
to warm up, but I fall quickly. If
you pick me up I will melt in
your arms.
Get to Know Piper.
Believe it or not I was born
with my eyeliner. All natural
and never needs to be
reapplied. I may be cute but
I’m also a little bit of a goof -
maybe you’ll get to see the
wiggly happy dance I do when
I greet someone I love. I am
also soooo smart, so I’d like to
find someone who will
continue to work on training
with me. The key to my heart
is food and walks. Once I’m
tired out I’m happy to chill on
the couch with you alllll night.
I’ll even lay all stretched out
on top of you so we can relax
together.
I love spending Sundays outside
on the deck, and I’ll even pick up
all the sticks in the yard for you!
I can also knock on the door
when I want to come inside so
we can spend all night cuddling
on the couch. I’ll fight for a seat
next to you so I can get as close
as possible, and if you rub my
belly I’ll never leave your side.
Get to Know Manny.
Don’t hate me if I cover you in kisses as soon as I meet you. I’m just a puppy, what did you expect? Hopefully you
already have a dog, because I LOVE to play with friends. I hate being left alone, so if you could just tell your boss
you’re working from home forever that would be great. Or you just can take me with you wherever we go so I can
meet all your friends and go on all the car rides, and I can be your shadow and never leave your side because we
are going to be best friends forever.
Get to Know Juno.
I’m a tough puppy who can roll with the big dogs. I’m a fierce tug-of-war competitor, and I love to play with my
much bigger foster sister (one of these times I’ll win!). I have a lot of love to give and can’t wait to have a family of
my own. I love all the attention… The more time with my people the better. All I need in life is kisses, cuddles, a
furry friend to play with, and a good bone to chew on (or a Kong toy stuffed with cheese and peanut butter!).
Get to Know Beauty.
If you sit on the other side of the couch I will scoot over to get closer to you. My love language is physical touch,
and I am a mellow cuddle bug. I like other dogs as long as they respect my squeaky toy, and I’m a very good leash
walker. My nickname is “Booty” because I shake my butt so much when you greet me. I would bend myself in half
for some happy baby talk. I’m a lounger, but I still have some young pup in me.
Get to Know Denali.
One thing you should know about me is that I am neurologically impared. That means I have a little trouble
controlling my muscles, but I have been working really hard, and recently I learned how to sit on my own! This
doesn’t stop me from playing hard though… I get excited and never want to stop! And you just can’t say no to these
eyes. My love language is cuddles. LOTS and lots of cuddles. But the true key to my heart is snacks… I like fruits and
veggies the best and will love you forever if you give me a carrot!

Get to Know Macy.
Believe it or not, I’m only 2 years young… my white
muzzle fools everyone!
All I ask is that you take your time to get to know
me. My past is my past and I’m not sharing, but I’ve
learned to trust (as long as it’s on my terms). Sit
down with treats in your hand and I’ll become your
friend quickly. I go craaaazy for chin scratches. I’ll
close my eyes and really get into my Zen. I love your
lap, and I will always be next to you. We’re best
friends, after all. If you get up, I’m following you.
Hopefully you are going on a snack run.
Get to Know Jasper.
My simple pleasures include chewing on a good oldfashioned
bone… or a stuffed toy… or my bed… or a
shoe… or really anything I can chew on. Together we
could go on hikes, try out new breweries, and enjoy a
nice meal at the beach... I really enjoy a full day of
activity! If you aren’t spending your day making me
tired, I’ll spend the night making you tired. You can
tell that I’ve had a good day if I snore all night. Some
would even say I saw logs while I sleep!
Getting Sauced
WITH CHEF FISH
COLLABORATION WITH BRANDI KRAUSE
& DAN FISHER AKA CHEF FISH
Tell Us About IT Sauce:
IT SAUCE is made from Criolla Peppers!
Criolla Peppers are a rare, medium-heat pepper
from the Andes Mountains. They are spicy,
tangy and sweet with hints of mango and citrus.
The Criolla's are the perfect pepper to balance
all of the flavors in IT SAUCE. IT SAUCE features
notes of smoke, honey, and spice. IT is bold
enough to add to hearty dishes and has the
perfect balance so it can be used on the most
delicate of foods.
What made you decide to start your
own sauce company?
We had talked about creating a hot sauce a few
years ago, but at that point in time it was just a
pipe dream. In the Spring of 2020, the company
I work for furloughed me for the summer and
that's when I started playing with recipes and
contacting manufacturers to learn about how
the process works. From there things took about
a year and we launched April 2021!
What is your background in the food industry?
I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Minneapolis and right away
started working in fine dining restaurants throughout
Minneapolis and Wisconsin. I at one point branched out on my
own as a private chef, but the long hours weren't conducive
for family life. I still love cooking for friends and family, creating
awesome dishes to share with our instagram community, and
incorporating IT SAUCE into recipes. I wanted IT SAUCE to be
the sauce that you could add to any dish that would
immediately and easily elevate the flavor profile.
What is your favorite recipe?
Umami Marinated Halibut with Seasonal Vegetables.
Where can locals find your product?
Locals can order online and pick up within an hour, ship or if
they're lucky they can catch us at Ledgeview Gardens.
Any big future plans?
There are definitely a few plans in the works, however they're
still in the early development stages. We still will be using an
extremely rare pepper and well balanced flavors.
More Info on IT SAUCE: Bottled in 8oz Glass Bottles. Zero Calories, Zero Sugars, Zero Preservatives.
Made in the USA, in an FDA regulated facility licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture.
Taking inspiration from the
Wisconsin-favorite Cherry Bounce,
this recipe infuses liquor with
apples to add a fresh-picked flavor
you can’t buy in a store. This is a
great recipe to make this autumn
with that over-abundance of
apples you have from an
enthusiastic visit to the orchard.
Make a few extra jars to gift when
guests ask what the secret
ingredient in their cocktails is.
Pairs extremely well alongside a
crock-pot of apple cider at
Thanksgiving, with club soda to
make a spritzer, or in an oldfashioned
for a touch of fall.
Any hard liquor can be substituted
for brandy as long as it is 80-proof
(40% alcohol) or above, but vodka,
whiskey, and bourbon are our
favorites. Try mixing and matching
the ingredients you add to create
your own signature blend.
I N G R E D I E N T S
( p e r q u a r t )
2-3 tart pie apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 quart brandy (or liquor of choice)
1 sealable quart mason jar
Optional Infusions
(try any combination; we used
the first three):
1 stick cinnamon
1 whole nutmeg
3-5 whole cloves
1-2 orange peels
1 teaspoon allspice
1 whole vanilla bean
1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
1-2 inches fresh ginger, peeled
and chopped
D I R E C T I O N S
1. Pack quart jar full with apples
and infusions. Top with sugar.
2. Fill the jar completely with
alcohol. The apples will float
and also soak up some of the
liquid, so you may have to top
it off to keep the apples
completely covered.
3. Shake jars to dissolve sugar.
4. Store in a cool, dark place to
infuse for up to 2 weeks,
shaking every few days.
5. Strain solids out and pour
liquid into a new jar or small
bottles for gifting. Add a fresh
cinnamon stick and a few
cloves, if desired.
RECIPE NOTES:
Use a firm, tart apple like granny smith, honeycrisp, or pink lady.
Store out of direct sunlight.
Make sure apples are completely covered by the alcohol for preservation.
You can boil the jars beforehand to sterilize them (though the alcohol does that).
The strained alcohol has a long shelf life at room temperature, but it can be
stored in the fridge or freezer to make chilled cocktails smoother.
