Dear reader, I am very pleased that
your path has led you to this book.
„Windows to Infinity“ covers the first 20
years of my work as an artist, but goes
beyond simply depicting my paintings.
I wanted to create a book that would
serve as a source of inspiration for our
journey through the world. It has become
a diary of a seeker and a finder,
borne of the insights I have gathered
along the way.
The further we move on our journey,
the more diverse the world around
us becomes. We see and marvel,
ask questions that cannot always be
answered. This book approaches
the wonder of being human through
words and images, capturing moments
of understanding.
AN INFINITE JOURNEY
Everything on this planet fades, dies
and vanishes and everything is born,
blossoming and unfolding. You can‘t
hold on to anything. Change is the
constant. There is only one thing, that
you can control and completely own,
which is the unfathomable magic of
your own awareness.
Lieber Leser, ich freue mich sehr, dass
Dein Weg Dich zu diesem Buch geführt
hat. „Windows to Infinity“ umfasst
die ersten 20 Jahre meines Schaffens
als Künstler, geht jedoch über die reine
Abbildung meiner Bilder hinaus.
Ich wollte ein Buch erschaffen, welches
als Inspirationsquelle für unsere
Reise durch die Welt dient. Es ist ein
Tagebuch eines Suchenden und Findenden
geworden, getragen von den
Erkenntnissen, die ich auf meinem
Weg gesammelt habe.
Um so weiter wir auf unserer Reise
kommen, umso vielfältiger wird die
Welt um uns herum. Wir sehen und
staunen, stellen Fragen, die nicht immer
beantwortet werden können. Dieses
Buch nähert sich durch Wort und
Bild dem Wunder des Menschseins
an und hält Momente des Verstehens
fest.
Alles auf der Welt vergeht, stirbt und
verschwindet und alles wird geboren,
blüht und entfaltet sich. Man kann an
Nichts festhalten. Der Wandel ist die
Konstante. Es gibt nur eine Sache, die
Du kontrollieren und vollständig besitzen
kannst und das ist die unergründliche
Magie Deines eigenen Bewusstseins.

Although I am sometimes troubled
by the horrors of this planet and the
difficulties one can encounter as a
human being, at the same time I am
deeply moved by the awe-inspiring
beauty of the world.
I am slowly beginning to understand
the full spectrum of the human experience.
The more complex it becomes,
the more difficult it is to describe. But
for this we have art, which can wordlessly
approach the mystery of the universe.
Dies ist ein Buch der Liebe, der Aufmerksamkeit
für all die kleinen Details
und Feinheiten des Lebens.
Obwohl mir die Schrecken dieses Planeten
und die Schwierigkeiten, die einem
als Mensch begegnen können,
manchmal Sorgen bereiten, bin ich
gleichzeitig von der Ehrfurcht gebietenden
Schönheit der Welt tief bewegt.
Ich beginne langsam, das volle Spektrum

Since the beginning of this millennium,
artist Konstantin Bax has fascinated
an ever-growing international
audience with his multi-layered paintings.
Bax is at the forefront of the modern
visionary and psychedelic art movement,
but he is reluctant to let himself
be put into a certain drawer.

Although he proudly carries the flag
of fantastic art into the future, (which
is not particularly surprising, since his
father was a friend of Salvador Dali
and he himself was an assistant to
the Viennese painter-prince Prof. Ernst
Fuchs) he doesn‘t hesitate to do it in
such an unorthodox way, that one can
literally sense the dawn of a new era.

Er trägt zwar mit Stolz die Fahne der
phantastischen Malerei in die Zukunft
(was nicht sonderlich verwundert,
war sein Vater doch ein Freund von
Salvador Dali und er selbst Assistent

Konstantin‘s distinctive and whimsical
style is a skillful blend of control and
chaos, of punk and perfection.
His archaic violence and the apparent
chaos at the first layers of his paintings
are brought to a higher state by ingenious
detailed precision work.
His compositions, carefully arranged
down to the smallest detail, follow
fixed rules that are dictated (each time
anew) by the painting itself.
Thus each work of the artist becomes
a self-sufficient creature whose mystery
wants to be deciphered by the viewer.
The works of Konstantin Bax seem like
a fresh cure for the synapses of the
information age that are overtaxed by
an endless stream of images.
Konstantins unverkennbarer und eigenwilliger
Stil ist eine geschickte Mischung
aus Kontrolle und Chaos, aus
Punk und Perfektion.
Seine archaische Gewalt, das scheinbare
Chaos zu Beginn seiner Arbeiten,

Since his pictures do not have an effect
on the mind through what is depicted,
but through their inner dynamics,
they do not serve any known
pattern of thought.
They thus create a mystical space that
cannot be entered with the intellect.
However, this space never seems arbitrary,
since it is always animated by
an inner logic.
Inspired by the findings of quantum
physics, the artist gradually enriches
the chaotic initial state of the artwork
with subtle visual links. In this way he
creates a ‚whole‘ that is bigger than its
‚parts‘. With each painting, Bax simulates
for us the universal principle of
evolution in a miniature format.
Da seine Bilder nicht durch das Dargestellte,
sondern durch ihre innere
Dynamik auf den Verstand wirken,
bedienen sie auch keinen bekannten
Denkmuster.
Sie schaffen so einen mystischen
Raum der nicht vom Intellekt vereinnahmt
werden kann. Dieser wirkt jedoch
nie willkürlich, ist er doch von
einer inneren Logik beseelt.
Beflügelt von den Erkenntnissen der
Quantenphysik, fügt der Künstler den
chaotischen Anfangszustand des Bildes
durch subtile visuelle Verknüpfungen
nach und nach zu einem großen
Ganzen zusammen. Auf diese Weise
simuliert er für uns das universale Entstehungsprinzip

The further we progress on our journey,
the more questions arise. Most of
them remain unanswered. One realization
that stuck with me early on was
that you don‘t have to answer all of
them at all. You don‘t have to know the
details to understand the whole.
TRANSFORMATION
The universe is an ineffable nexus of
states and events, its description beyond
what is humanly possible. What
we are capable of doing, however, is
developing a sense of this all-encompassing,
ongoing metamorphosis of
things that we call reality.
It is the sense of the sacred, the universal,
timeless face of our world, which
can set our path on new trajectories.
When we begin to live by the laws of
the universe, rather than the mundane
ones that are subject to social change,
we slowly arrive at home.
The true nature of our reality has an
abstract face for us, we cannot grasp it
with our mind. Only by a quantum leap
into our feeling, we can manage to get
a hold of it.
Je weiter wir auf unserer Reise voranschreiten,

Die meisten von Ihnen bleiben unbeantwortet.
Eine Erkenntnis, die mich
früh begleitet hat war, dass man gar
nicht alle beantworten muss. Man
muss die Einzelheiten nicht kennen,
um das Ganze zu verstehen.
Das Universum ist eine unaussprechliche
Verknüpfung von Zuständen und
Ereignissen, seine Beschreibung geht
über das menschlich Mögliche hinaus.
Was wir jedoch imstande sind zu
tun, ist ein Gefühl für diese allumfassende,
andauernde Metamorphose
der Dinge zu entwickeln, die wir Realität

My paintings are the expression of that
imponderable beauty and perfection
that is inherent in just everything. It is
the journey into the abstract that continues
to fascinate me.
In the year 2005, I finally had the courage
to leave my drawing materials behind
and venture to brushes and paint.
In my drawings I somehow missed the
glow that can only be achieved with
paint.
Meine Bilder sind der Ausdruck dieser
unwägbaren Schönheit und Perfektion,
die allem innewohnt. Es ist die
Reise ins Abstrakte, die mich immer
wieder aufs Neue fasziniert.
Im Jahr 2005 brachte ich endlich den
Mut auf, mein Zeichenmaterial liegenzulassen
und mich an Pinsel und
Farben heranzuwagen. In meinen
Zeichnungen habe ich das Leuchten
vermisst, welches man nur mit der
Malerei erzeugen kann.
Journey
I experimented a lot with acrylics
and also tried my hand with the old
master‘s mixed media technique.
Over the years I found a way to combine
these two techniques. I took the
advantages of the quick drying acrylic
paint and mixed it with the luminosity
of the oil glaze.
Today I work almost exclusively in acrylic,
but it took years to get the same
radiance out of this medium.
Ich experimentierte viel mit Acrylfarben
und versuchte mich auch in der
altmeisterlichen Mischtechnik. Im Laufe
der Jahre fand ich einen Weg, diese
zwei Techniken zu kombinieren. Ich
vereinte die Vorteile der schnell trocknenden
Acrylfarbe mit der Leuchtkraft
der Öl-Lasur.
Heute arbeite ich fast nur noch in
Acryl, doch es hat Jahre gedauert
um aus diesem Medium die gleiche
Strahlkraft herauszuholen.

CURIOSITY
The years from 2006 to 2008 are
marked by the transition of my early
drawings to painting. The possibilities
of expression with brushes and colors
slowly find their way into my paintings
during this time. The transition, from a
surrealistic to a more abstract expression,
announced itself.
The human being and his connection
to the world is the central theme in this
period. Comparable to the diary of a
traveler, I captured in my paintings the
moments of my realizations.
Odes to childlike curiosity and a creative
interaction with the world that surrounds
us.
Die Jahre von 2006 bis 2008 sind geprägt
vom Übergang meiner frühen
Zeichnungen, hin zur Malerei. Die
Möglichkeiten des Ausdrucks mit Pinsel
und Farben finden in dieser Zeit
langsam ihren Weg in meine Bilder.
Der Wandel, vom Surrealistischen hin
zum Abstrakten, kündigt sich an.
Der Mensch und seine Verbindung zur
Welt ist das zentrale Thema in dieser
Zeit. Vergleichbar mit dem Tagebuch
eines Reisenden, hielt ich in den Bildern
die Momente meiner Erkenntnisse
fest.
Oden an die kindliche Neugier und
den kreativen Umgang mit der Welt,
die uns umgibt.

Konstantin, congratulations on this
new body of work you have shared with
the world. It ‚sings the body electric‘.
Your work, which you describe as
quantum realism, purports to depict
the „constant transformation of matter“,
to „make visible the inner structure
of the object, its underlying form
principle and maybe most important
its connection to its surrounding.“ I am
very inspired by this artistic mission.
One thing I am interested in, is how
you arrive at the insight to be able to
depict things in this way?
Konstantin, herzlichen Glückwunsch
zu Deiner neuen Werkserie, die Du mit
der Welt geteilt hast. Dein Werk, welches
Du als „gequantelten Realismus“
beschreibst, versucht die „konstante
Transformation der Materie“ deutlich
zu machen und „die innere Struktur
der Dinge abzubilden, ihre Morphogenese
im Raum und vielleicht am wichtigsten
die Verbindung zu ihrer Umgebung.“
Diese Dinge als künstlerische
Aufgabe zu sehen inspiriert mich sehr.
Ich würde gerne wissen, wie Du dazu
gekommen bist die Dinge in dieser
Form darzustellen?
Konstantin:
Well, to answer this question, I guess I
have start at the beginning. My first interest
in art came up at the same time
my teenage mind felt a strong discomfort
with the concept, society offers for
the conception of our reality. I felt something
missing in our society. I was
looking for a truth behind the obvious,
the profane.
I just couldn’t understand that nobody
seemed to be interested in looking behind
that curtain.
Um diese Frage beantworten zu können,

die die Gesellschaft für die
Wahrnehmung unserer Realität bereithält,

hinter dem Alltäglichen und konnte
nicht verstehen, dass es anscheinend
niemanden wirklich interessierte

Once I took that path, things were revealed
to me step by step. I was reading
Carlos Castaneda’s books and
and had several very strong mystical
experiences. This made me want to
delve further and further into the mysteries
of the world.
My art was the medium, with which I
processed my experiences. The urge
to question reality and understand it
better, both in a scientific and spiritual
way, found its way into my art.
Sobald ich diesen Weg eingeschlagen
hatte, wurden mir die Dinge Schritt für
Schritt offenbart. Ich las die Bücher von
Carlos Castaneda und hatte mehrere
starke mystische Erfahrungen. Das hat

My journey led me to the visionary architecture
project of Arcosanti in Arizona,
where I worked when I was an
architecture student. At this time I was
fascinated with the theories of quantum
mechanics and the superstring
theory. I felt that these theories where
almost able to describe the “holy” in a
scientific way. Things began to slowly
make sense. My insights were additionally
strengthened by the encounter
with a very special person.
Meine Reise führte mich nach Arcosanti,
Arizona, einem visionären Architekturprojekt,
wo ich als Student
gearbeitet habe. Zu dieser Zeit haben
mich die Theorien der Quantenmechanik
unglaublich fasziniert. Ich hatte
das Gefühl, dass diese Theorien
fast in der Lage waren, das „Heilige“
auf wissenschaftliche Art und Weise
zu beschreiben. Die Dinge fingen an

It was an american writer from San
Francisco, who introduced me to infinity
one night. It was my encounter
with the true “Abstract” under the influence
of a psychotropic substance,
which is pretty common in many ancient
cultures, which made the scales
fall from my eyes.
I caught a glimpse of a reality beyond
duality and separation. My body could
feel what my mind couldn’t describe.
I was a part of the “unified field”, fully
integrated into infinity.
The reason I am so fascinated with the
Superstring Theory, is the fact, that it
describes space as a vibrating field.
There are no differences out there,
matter doesn’t exist. Imagine that every
point in space has the possibility to
vibrate in unlimited patterns. A certain
molecule has its own vibrational pattern
in space.

Nachts in die Unendlichkeit einführte.
Es war meine Begegnung mit dem
wahren „Abstrakten“ unter dem Einfluss
einer psychotropen Substanz,
die in vielen alten Kulturen weit verbreitet
ist, die mir die Schuppen von
den Augen fallen ließ. Ich erhaschte
einen Einblick in eine Realität jenseits
von Dualität und Trennung. Mein Körper
konnte fühlen, was mein Verstand
nicht beschreiben konnte. Ich war Teil
des „vereinigten Feldes“, voll integriert
in die Unendlichkeit.
Der Grund, weshalb mich die Quanten-
und Superstring Theorie so fasziniert,
ist die Tatsache, dass sie den
Raum als vibrierendes Feld beschreibt,
in dem es eigentlich gar keine Materie
gibt. Stell Dir vor, jeder Punkt im Raum
hat die Möglichkeit in unendlichen
Mustern zu vibrieren. Ein bestimmtes
Molekül ist eine bestimmte Vibration
im Raum.

our descriptions. My abstract paintings

fundamental essence of our reality.
Objectivity, which can not be put into
words, but still seems to have a life of
its own.
GOOD VIBRATIONS
Through meditation and turning off
the inner monologue, it is possible to
dive into the wholeness of the present.
When you lose your language, you begin
to recognize the world in its original
state.
Our body is at home in a world of complex
forms perceived through our senses.
Our mind, however, moves on a
purely intellectual level and its medium
is the word. Through our description
of things, our perception is created.
Unfortunately, we have lost the balance
of these two levels of being, the
sense and the mind.

Unser Körper ist in einer Welt
von komplexen Formen Zuhause, die

werden. Unser Verstand bewegt sich

Ebene und sein Medium ist das Wort.
Durch unsere Beschreibung der Dinge
wird unsere Wahrnehmung erschaffen.

Painting is the perfect meditation for

The Abstract
Most of my paintings are created using
the chaos principle, meaning I work
with what „happens“ on the canvas.
Control and chaos combine to form
a cosmic symphony of colors and
shapes, which, as in a chain reaction,
in each picture anew, paves its way.
My intuition takes the lead and I dive
into a world that knows no limits.

Since our lives are characterized by
constant change, it is important to me
to transfer this fundamental principle,
which is inherent in everything, to
painting. Each image is a new challenge,
to develop my dance with chaos
and spontaneity further.
Thus, I am not so much concerned
with remaining faithful to a certain style,
but rather to further explore the possibilities
of painterly expression.

The greatest inspiration for my work is
nature, with all its diverse manifestations.
I strive for a representation in art that
is able to illustrate the high complexity
of our ecosystem and that not only
reproduces what is seen, but rather
the immediate „experience“ of what is
seen. A feeling for the vibrant, present
moment.
MORPHOGENETIC FIELDS
I am primarily interested in the invisible
forces, the energy fields, that are
responsible for the permanent metamorphosis
of things. The American
scientist Rupert Sheldrake coined the
term „morphogenetic fields“ for these
energies, which are to be understood
as immaterial vibrational fields that
give the material world its form.
The term of the morphogenetic fields
already indicates that it is about
nothing material, but about a „structure
of information“ which encircles
and penetrates the material realm.
Die größte Inspiration für meine Arbeit
ist die Natur, mit all ihren vielfältigen
Erscheinungsweisen.
Ich strebe eine Darstellung in der
Kunst an, die es vermag die hohe
Komplexität unseres Ökosystems zu
veranschaulichen und die nicht nur
das Gesehene wiedergibt, sondern
vielmehr das unmittelbare „Erleben“
des Gesehenen. Ein Gefühl der lebendigen
Gegenwart.
Es geht mir dabei in erster Linie um die
unsichtbaren Kräfte, die Energiefelder,
die für die permanente Metamorphose
der Dinge verantwortlich sind. Der
amerikanische Wissenschaftler Rupert
Sheldrake prägte für diese Energien
den Begriff der „morphogenetischen
Felder“, welche als immaterielle
Vibrationsfelder zu verstehen sind, die
der materiellen Welt ihre Form geben.
Der Begriff der morphogenetischen
Felder deutet schon darauf hin, dass
es sich dabei um nichts Materielles
handelt, sondern um eine „Struktur
der Information“, die das Materielle
umspült und durchdringt.

turn has a shaping effect on the overall

oder konvergieren zu etwas

permanent bereichert wird. Über
den Faktor Zeit wird es immer komplexer
und differenzierter. Atome schließen

zu Organismen, die irgendwann ein
Bewusstsein für ihre eigenen „Form“
entwickeln. Der „Geist“ entsteht, und
wirkt wiederum formend auf das Gesamtsystem

most complex sub-system in the universe,

the power to influence the overall system
to a great extent.
What effects this has on our environment,
I probably do not have to elaborate.
One can only hope that we will
quickly move up the ladder of consciousness
and that greed and claims
to power will soon give way to new
paradigms of life.
How many before me have already
dreamed of a world in which man is
the protector of life and not its destroyer.
I think that in our time it is more important
than ever to make our peace
with nature, to really feel it and to realize
that we are embedded in it, breathing
and living within it.
My paintings are an attempt to capture
this feeling of connectedness and
evoke it within the viewer. By mixing
seen and felt impressions, I try to lead
to a deeper perception of our environment.
What may be difficult for science to describe,
the artist can approach calmly,
because he does not have to deliver
evidence.
To describe the things that do not consist
of tangible matter, he can rely on
his inner feeling and thus slowly approach
the truth and if he is lucky, enter
the world of the unknown.
Die Tatsache, dass der Mensch das
vielleicht komplexeste Sub-System
des Universums ist, gibt ihm leider
auch die Macht, in großem Maße auf
das Gesamtsystem einzuwirken. Welche
Auswirkungen das auf unsere
Umwelt hat, muss ich wohl nicht weiter
ausführen. Man kann nur hoffen,
dass wir uns auf der Bewusstseinsleiter
schnell nach oben bewegen und
Gier und Machtansprüche schon bald
neuen Lebensmaximen weichen werden.
Wie viele vor mir haben schon von einer
Welt geträumt, in der der Mensch
der Beschützer des Lebens ist und
nicht sein Zerstörer. Ich denke, dass
es in unserer heutigen Zeit wichtiger
ist denn je, seinen Frieden mit der Natur
zu schließen, sie zu spüren und zu
erkennen, dass man in sie eingebettet
ist, mit ihr atmet und lebt.
Meine Bilder sind ein Versuch dieses
Gefühl der Verbundenheit einzufangen
und im Betrachter wachzurufen.
Durch die Vermischung von gesehenen
und gefühlten Eindrücken versuche
ich zu einer tieferen Wahrnehmung
unserer Umwelt zu führen.
Was für die Wissenschaft schwierig
zu beschreiben ist, kann der Künstler
gelassen angehen, da er keine Beweise
abliefern muss. Um die Dinge zu
beschreiben, die nicht aus greifbarer
Materie bestehen, kann er sich auf
sein inneres Gefühl verlassen und sich
so langsam zu der Wahrheit vortasten
und wenn er Glück hat, die Welt des
Unbekannten betreten.

I have always been interested in understanding
how things around the
universe are interconnected and how
man fits into this picture.
By blending various religious concepts
with my own view of the cosmic
principle, the painting „Heaven &
Hell“ was created over a period of 18
months.
MAPPING CONSCIOUSNESS
It all started with me trying to graphically
represent on a piece of paper the
shamanic worldview as described in
Carlos Castaneda‘s Don Juan series.
I wanted to know if it was possible to
illustrate the transformation from a
„ordinary“ person to a „warrior“ (according
to Castaneda, a person who perceives
an energetic world, free from
the limitations of his mind and becomes
one with it) in a simple diagram.
While I was working on the sketch, I
quickly realized that the various religions
of our world all try to describe the
same issues, only the language they
use to do so differs. My question then
was, would it be possible to unify all
these concepts?
I collected the most important and
obvious messages of all religious theories
and translated them into a modern
language.
Ich war schon immer daran interessiert
zu verstehen, wie die Dinge im
Universum miteinander verknüpft sind
und wie der Mensch sich in dieses
Bild einfügt.
Durch die Überblendung verschiedenster
religiöser Konzepte mit meiner
eigenen Auffassung des kosmischen
Prinzips entstand das Bild „Heaven &
Hell“ in einem Zeitraum von 18 Monaten.
Alles fing damit an, dass ich versuchte,
die schamanische Weltanschauung,
wie sie in Carlos Castaneda‘s Don
Juan Reihe beschrieben wird, auf einem
Blatt Papier grafisch darzustellen.
Ich wollte wissen, ob es möglich ist,
die Transformation vom „normalen“
Menschen, hin zum „Krieger“ (nach
Castaneda, ein Mensch, der frei von
den Limitierungen seines Verstandes
eine energetische Welt wahrnimmt
und mit dieser eins wird), in einem
simplen Diagramm zu veranschaulichen.
Bei meiner Arbeit fiel mir schnell auf,
dass die verschiedenen Religionen
unserer Welt alle versuchen die gleichen
Dinge zu beschreiben, lediglich
die Sprache, die sie dafür benutzen,
unterscheidet sich. Meine Frage war
demzufolge, würde es möglich sein,
all diese Konzepte zu vereinen?
Ich sammelte die wichtigsten und augenscheinlichsten
Merkmale der religiösen
Theorien und übersetzte sie in
eine moderne Sprache.

The initial sketch eventually evolved
into a concept, which was good
enough to be transferred to the big
canvas.
I began working on „Heaven & Hell“ in
the winter of 2009. In this early phase
of the painting, an artist friend, Greg
Pettit, recommended that I look at the
„Tree of Life“ from the Kabbalah. I had
not looked into it before, and I was
amazed at the detailed description of
the universe that lay in front of me.
THE SOUL‘S JOURNEY
Die anfängliche Skizze entwickelte
sich schließlich zu einem Konzept,
was gut genug war, um auf die große
Leinwand übertragen zu werden.
Im Winter 2009 begann ich mit der
Arbeit an „Heaven & Hell“. In dieser
Frühphase des Bildes empfahl mir ein
befreundeter Künstler, Greg Pettit, mir
den „Baum des Lebens“ aus der Kabbala
anzuschauen. Ich hatte mich zuvor
noch nicht damit beschäftigt und
ich war erstaunt, welch detaillierte
Beschreibung des Universums da vor
mir lag.

The Tree of Life coincided in large
parts with the diagram I had already
developed and gave it the final touch.
In the end, „Heaven & Hell“ became
a synergy of different belief systems,
translated into a modern and understandable
language.
The painting shows the journey of
consciousness, starting from the point
where it is manifested into the material
world, up to its completion, the highest
state it can reach.
The painting illustrates the various
levels through which consciousness
must pass in order to reconnect with
its own source at the end. Consciousness
passes through the animal stage
(senses/lust), the self-contemplative
(ego/logic) and finally reaches the
transpersonal level, where it transforms
itself to become one with its
source again.
The assumption that it is possible for
human beings to escape this eternal
cycle of birth and death determines
the image and is its central message.
„Heaven & Hell“ describes the stages
of our spiritual growth.
Der Baum des Lebens deckte sich
in weiten Teilen mit dem Diagramm,
welches ich bereits entwickelt hatte
und gab ihm den letzten Schliff. So ist
„Heaven & Hell“ letzten Endes eine Synergie
aus verschiedenen Glaubenssystemen
geworden, übersetzt in eine
moderne und verständliche Sprache.
Das Bild zeigt die Reise des Bewusstseins,
ausgehend von dem Punkt, an
dem es in der materiellen Welt manifestiert
wird, bis hin zu seiner Vollendung,
dem höchsten Zustand, den es
erreichen kann.
Es veranschaulicht die verschiedenen
Ebenen, durch die das Bewusstsein
schreiten muss, um sich am Ende wieder
mit seiner eigenen Quelle zu verbinden.
Das Bewusstsein durchläuft
die animalische Stufe (Sinne/Trieb),
die selbst-kontemplative (Ego/Logik)
und erreicht schließlich die transpersonale
Ebene, in der es sich selbst
transformiert, um im letzten Schritt
wieder Eins mit seinem Ursprung wird.
Die Annahme, dass es für Menschen
möglich ist, diesem ewigen Kreislauf
von Geburt und Tod zu entkommen,
bestimmt das Bild und ist seine zentrale
Message. „Heaven & Hell“ beschreibt
die Stationen unseres spirituellen
Wachstums.

One can recognize two figures in the
painting, which are mirrored around
the middle circle (ego/logic). These
two figures represent one and the
same person, which is only represented
in two different stages of development.
In the lower left corner (as shown above)
you can see a small model of the
structure of the image. It shows the different
states and characteristics and
how they are connected in the cosmic
context. On the physical plane there
are five spheres, which represent the
stages of evolution of consciousness.
This material plane is orbited and imbued
by an immaterial one, the origin
of all living matter.
The entrance of consciousness into
the material world is symbolized by
the first sphere. In the second, consciousness
gains a feeling for its surrounding.
The five senses develop.
The third sphere represents the ego
and human logic. Consciousness
recognizes itself. In the fourth, consciousness
goes beyond itself and integrates
the previous two stages into
one. The „6th sense“ awakens and
takes over the supremacy of the mind.
The gut feeling has regained power
over „logic“. The inner and outer
worlds of the individual merge into a
unity of the present, with all that it contains.
Man kann auf dem Bild zwei Figuren
erkennen, die um den mittleren Kreis
(Ego/Logik) gespiegelt sind. Diese
zwei Figuren repräsentieren ein und
denselben Menschen, welcher nur in
zwei verschiedenen Stufen der Entwicklung
dargestellt ist.
In der linken unteren Ecke (Abbildung
oben) kann man ein kleines Model,
des Aufbaus vom Bild, sehen. Es zeigt
die verschieden Zustände und Eigenschaften
und wie sie im kosmischen
Kontext miteinander verbunden sind.
Auf der materiellen Ebene (physical
plane) befinden sich fünf Sphären, die
für die Entwicklungsstufen des Bewusstseins
stehen.
Der Eintritt von Bewusstsein in die
materielle Welt wird durch die erste
Sphäre symbolisiert. In der zweiten
bekommt das Bewusstsein ein Gefühl
für seine Umgebung. Die fünf Sinne
entwickeln sich. Die dritte Sphäre
steht für das Ego und die menschliche
Logik. Das Bewusstsein erkennt
sich selbst. In der vierten geht das Bewusstsein
über sich selbst hinaus und
integriert die beiden vorherigen Stufen
zu einer Einheit. Der „6. Sinn“ erwacht
und übernimmt die Vormachtstellung
des Verstandes.
Das Bauchgefühl hat die Macht über
die „Logik“ zurückgewonnen. Die innere
und äußere Welt des Individuums
verschmelzen zu einer Einheit der Gegenwart,
mit allem was sie enthält.

The five spheres are connected by
eight terms. These are the forces that
act in consciousness and change synchronously
with its development. Instinct
and desire create the sphere of
the senses. Instinct becomes intellect,
desire becomes feeling, logic and ego
are born. The horizontal heart frequency
line represents the illusion of time
and the inevitability of birth and death
in the eternal cycle. The true way out
of this entanglement is to be found
only on the vertical axis, the present
moment.
TRANSPERSONALITY

To get beyond the third sphere (the
ego), an imaginary line must be
crossed. Often referred to as the little
death, this is the place where one
gives up the sole domination of the
ego. Above this line, the world of transpersonality
begins. Intellect becomes
discipline and ultimately turns into stability.
On the other side, emotion becomes
mercy and finally transcends into
wisdom.
The upper figure shows man in playful
exchange with his environment. The
seven noble truths guide his every actions.
Past and future spread out into
an all-encompassing moment of the
present.
This person still uses his ego, but his
path is no longer dictated by it. He has
become one with the creative energy
of the present and allows his feelings
to guide him through the world.
Something else has taken over. Feeling,
intuition and trust are the driving
forces of his being.
Transpersonality, or Buddha consciousness,
has been achieved. The
cycle of rebirth is broken.
Um jenseits der dritten Sphäre (dem
Ego) zu gelangen, muss eine imaginäre
Linie übertreten werden. Oft auch
als kleiner Tod bezeichnet, ist dies die
Stelle, an der man die Alleinherrschaft
des Egos aufgibt. Über dieser Linie
beginnt die Welt der Transpersonalität.
Der Intellekt wird zu Disziplin und
letzten Endes zu Stabilität. Auf der anderen
Seite wird Gefühl zu Gnade, um
sich schließlich zur Weisheit zu vollenden.
Die obere Figur zeigt den Menschen
im spielerischen Austausch mit seiner
Umgebung. Die sieben edlen Wahrheiten
führen seine Handlungen. Vergangenheit
und Zukunft breiten sich
in einem allumfassenden Moment der
Gegenwart aus. Dieser Mensch benutzt
zwar noch sein Ego, jedoch wird
sein Weg nicht mehr von ihm diktiert.
Er ist eins geworden mit der kreativen
Energie der Gegenwart und lässt sich
von seinem Gefühl durch die Welt leiten.
Etwas anderes hat die Herrschaft
übernommen. Gefühl, Intuition und
Vertrauen sind die treibenden Kräfte
seines Wesens.
Die Transpersonalität, oder das Buddha
Bewusstsein, ist erreicht. Der
Kreislauf der Wiedergeburt ist durchbrochen.

If there is one constant in our lives, it
is constant change. Things usually develop
beyond our control. The ability to
deal with this fact, in the best case to
become one with it, is one of the biggest
challenges of our life.
From the chaos we create our existence.
We try to bring order into it, only
to have it collapse upon us again in
the very next moment. Creativity is the
ability to restructure things, to create
meaning out of previously unconnected
facts.
Creativity is born out of chaos.
“One must still have chaos in oneself
to be able to give birth to a dancing
star“,
said Friedrich Nietzsche a while ago.
This dance of the stars is that of logic
and intuition. If we manage to cultivate
and connect the two hemispheres
of our brain, we become what man is
actually supposed to be.

Leben gibt, dann ist dies der stetige
Wandel. Die Dinge entwickeln sich
meist jenseits unserer Kontrolle. Die
Fähigkeit mit dieser Tatsache umzugehen,

Certainly our logically oriented society
is partly responsible for this, but maybe

The path to it is not always so easy,

the world of the known. The trick
is probably to switch it off for a moment
and dive into the world beyond
the tangible.

LIFELINES
Dennis Konstantin Bax was born in
Wiesbaden/Germany in 1979. After
graduating from university as an interior
architect, he decided to live in Hamburg,
the home of his great-grandmother.
Born into a family of artists, he acquired
the craft of painting mostly autodidactically
and during his time as an
assistant to Prof. Ernst Fuchs.
Formative for his art and attitude towards
life was his stay in Arcosanti/
Arizona for several years. Located in
the middle of the desert, it was there
that he found the inspiration for his
unique style.
Dennis Konstantin Bax wurde 1979 in
Wiesbaden geboren. Nach einem Studium
der Innenarchitektur entschied
er sich für Hamburg, die Heimat seiner
Urgroßmutter, als neuen Wohnort.
In eine Künstlerfamilie geboren erwarb
er das Handwerk der Malerei größtenteils
autodidaktisch und in seiner Zeit
als Assistent von Prof. Ernst Fuchs.
Prägend für seine Kunst und Lebensauffassung
war sein mehrjähriger Aufenthalt
in Arcosanti/Arizona. Mitten in
der Wüste gelegen, fand er dort die
Inspiration für seinen einzigartigen Stil.

He lives and works in Hamburg as a
freelance artist since 2006.
Dennis Konstantins Kunst wurde bereits

und Wien ausgestellt.
