family adoption
P. Graham Dunn’s LeAnna Kandel, her husband Russel, and
their two biological children Austin (15) and Annie (8),
began welcoming foster children into their home over
seven years ago. LeAnna had a lifelong dream of adopting
children, which was inspired by stories and experiences
shared by her grandparents, who fostered many children
throughout their lifetime.
In 2018, LeAnna’s dream came true with the adoption of
siblings Bailey (8) and Izzy (10). Bailey and Izzy also
had another biological brother, Aiden (8), who lived
with a separate foster family further away. The three
siblings visited each other throughout the years, but
as Aiden grew older, he longed to be with his brother
and sister on a more permanent basis. His foster family
voiced Aiden’s wishes to Holmes County Children Services, and they
reached out to the Kandel family to see if they would consider his
adoption.
Two and a half years later, on June 22, 2021,

of the Kandel family. On this day, he was
presented with a custom P. Graham Dunn sign from
his family that reads, “It doesn’t matter where
you come from. This is where you’re surrounded
by love. You are wanted and deeply loved. You’re
not alone. This is home and it’s right where you
belong.” When making the sign, LeAnna placed the
emphasis on YOU BELONG because “So often children
who are adopted feel unwanted and unloved. This
piece and saying are important to me because
they serve as a visual reminder to our children
that, regardless of what their beginnings looked
like, God has a purpose and a plan for them. They
are wanted, deeply loved, and HOME.”
this is home and it ’ s right where you belong
