on a century in the league for the Robins.<br />

him just one away from another major<br />

milestone!<br />

Bentley joined from Brentford in June 2019,<br />

where he had spent three seasons following<br />

a seven-year spell at Southend United. In<br />

the 2014/15 season he helped lead The<br />

Shrimpers to League Two promotion via the<br />

play-offs. His performances that season led<br />

to three of the club’s end-of-season awards<br />

as well as a place in the PFA League Two<br />

Team of the Year.<br />

Thank you for your support on Saturday. It was a<br />

tough lesson for us, so it’s about learning from the<br />

experience, keeping positive and doing everything<br />

we can to bounce back<br />

on Tuesday night.<br />

I want us to control<br />

possession a lot better<br />

because we didn’t hit<br />

the levels I know we<br />

are capable of against<br />

AFC Bournemouth. We<br />

were disjointed and<br />

well beaten by a very<br />

good side on the day.<br />

We need to compete<br />

much better against<br />

<strong>Nottingham</strong> <strong>Forest</strong>.<br />

I don’t think we<br />

can have too many<br />

complaints because<br />

we come into this new<br />

fixture after playing<br />

against the best side we<br />

have faced so far this season. It's difficult to judge<br />

our performance from Saturday because it was like<br />

playing against a Premier League team, but now we<br />

need a response.<br />

Tuesday is another chance for us to get that win<br />

at home. I strongly believe we can do that against<br />

a <strong>Nottingham</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> team which has put together<br />

some good results under Steve Cooper in recent<br />

weeks. He has brought a lot of experience and we<br />

We lost Joe Williams early into the game on<br />

Saturday and at the time of writing these<br />

programme notes it was still too early to say much<br />

more. We feel so much for him: he’s such a hard<br />

worker, he’s been through a lot and he has always<br />

remained so dedicated. He’ll be supported by<br />

everyone here while he<br />

recovers and looks to get<br />

fit again.<br />

When one player misses<br />

out, it opens more<br />

opportunities for other<br />

members of the squad.<br />

The situation then is<br />

about those players<br />

taking their chances.<br />

Players might find<br />

themselves in a position<br />

where they are required<br />

to play so it’s not<br />

about bemoaning the<br />

Striker Grabban has come to form as<br />

<strong>Nottingham</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> look to recover<br />

from their rough start to the<br />

campaign.<br />

The 33-year-old forward has found<br />

the back of the net five times this<br />

season, with his latest strike coming<br />

in the form of a late winner against<br />

Blackpool on Saturday.<br />

That was his fifth goal from seven<br />

appearances. He has now scored in<br />

three successive matches helping<br />

<strong>Forest</strong> win their last three games<br />

heading to Ashton Gate.<br />

Grabban has been a proven<br />

goalscorer through much of<br />

his career which started at<br />

Crystal Palace in 2005, having<br />

represented the likes of Millwall,<br />

AFC Bournemouth and Norwich <strong>City</strong><br />

before he joined <strong>Forest</strong> from the<br />

Cherries for a reported £6million fee<br />

in 2018.<br />

loan signings) brought in by<br />

the previous manager. Hughton<br />

also oversaw the departure of<br />

ten players in the summer as<br />

he aimed to rejuvenate <strong>Forest</strong>'s<br />

fourtunes.<br />

Ultimately, however, it is now<br />

down to former Liverpool<br />

youth coach Cooper – who led<br />

Swansea <strong>City</strong> to the play-offs<br />

in the past two seasons – to<br />

bounce back with Chris Martin<br />

“We could’ve still lost the game,<br />

even at our best, because<br />

AFC Bournemouth are such<br />

a good team but we didn’t<br />

quite put it altogether. We’ve<br />

been disappointed in our own<br />

performance a few times so<br />

now we have a great chance to<br />

put things right with another<br />

game right around the corner.”<br />

Martin continued: “We are<br />

still a work in progress<br />

and the game on Saturday<br />

showed there is still a lot<br />

for us to work on. What<br />

disappointed us the most<br />

was that we weren’t at our<br />

best. If we could guarantee<br />

a performance it’s about<br />

bringing our best to the<br />

table, having belief in each<br />

other and being more<br />

aggressive. That’s what<br />

we lacked at the weekend,<br />

so we need to be on the<br />

front foot and make it a<br />

really difficult game for<br />

<strong>Nottingham</strong> <strong>Forest</strong>.<br />

“We’re at our best when<br />

we work really well<br />

together and it’s the<br />

responsibility of everyone<br />

to do their jobs. It doesn’t<br />

have to be pretty. Of<br />

course we hope to play<br />

well and score a lot of<br />

goals, but if we win 1-0 in<br />

a scrappy game I’ll take it.”<br />

<strong>Forest</strong> head to BS3 on<br />

the back of a five-game<br />

unbeaten streak, including<br />

three consecutive wins<br />

under new manager Steve<br />

Cooper. They have found<br />

new belief and therefore<br />

present another difficult<br />

challenge.<br />

“They’ve changed to a<br />

shape Cooper has used<br />

before when at Swansea<br />

<strong>City</strong> with the 4-3-3 but<br />

we’ve played against it<br />

before,” said Martin.<br />

“They have more good<br />

players, there’s nothing<br />

new there but we’re<br />

looking to bounce back.<br />

sweet moment. I wouldn’t<br />

COMPETITION<br />

The Robins Foundation has<br />

launched a new competition<br />

aiming to inspire kids to get<br />

creative with their poetry.<br />

The competition launched on National Poetry Day<br />

(October 7th) with hundreds of school children in<br />

the local area.<br />

Working with our 15 partner schools, the schools<br />

are currently getting their Year 5 and 6 students to<br />

write poems based on the theme of ‘Ambition’.<br />

The best poems from each school will be judged<br />

by a special select panel, with the winning poem<br />

to be published in a future edition of THE ROB NS<br />

Matchday Programme.<br />

This is expected to be towards the end of 2021<br />

and the Foundation will invite the winning poet<br />

to that <strong>Bristol</strong> <strong>City</strong> home game for a half-time<br />

presentation.<br />

Good luck to all the children involved and we can’t<br />

wait to read the entries!<br />
