First-generation college student<br />
Diana Hernandez (BBA) came<br />
from a small high school where<br />
every face was a friend. Getting<br />
acclimated to life on a Big Ten<br />
campus was overwhelming at first.<br />
Diana took action by diving<br />
headfirst into activities at <strong>Tippie</strong>.<br />
“Student organizations helped me<br />
meet some of my best friends in<br />
college, making it easier to be<br />
away from home,” she said.<br />
But student orgs gave Diana<br />
more than friendship. Business<br />
fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi helped<br />
her network with other students<br />
and faculty, creating professional<br />
connections she’ll use her entire<br />
career. And her involvement in the<br />
Business Student Ambassadors<br />
helped her learn how to juggle<br />
priorities and come out on top.<br />
“Getting involved on campus<br />
was the greatest thing I<br />
could’ve done to overcome<br />
being homesick.”
