Great job, First Church!! There were a grand total of 116 shoeboxes filled and
shipped to share the love of Jesus with children all around the world!
CHRISTMAS GIVING FOR LOCAL KIDS
We are excited that for Christmas 2021, we are also collecting for Fishbone Ministries
– our local mission partner that serves kids in the Island area of Butler.
At the welcome center, you’ll find a gift bag for each child that attends the
Thursday night kids program at Fishbone. We would love to fill every one of
them!! Please take one, fill it with some of the suggested items, and bring it back
to the collection tables on the weekends of December 4/5 and 11/12. Financial
donations are also welcome! Notate “Fishbone Christmas” on the memo line.
HOW TO LOVE WELL IN AN ANGRY AGE?

Why does our world seem to default to anger, frustration, and hate? In the midst of
this age, the church and the people of God remain called to love even the most
difficult individuals.
CHRISTMAS DECORATORS NEEDED
Advent is quickly approaching, and we want our physical space at the Rt. 8 campus
to reflect the joy and hope of Christmas! We are having a decorating party on
Sunday, November 28, right after the Crossfire service. Lunch will be provided. If
you would like to take part in bringing Christmas to life in the Rt. 8 space this year,
email Sophie Lockhart at slockhart@butlerfumc.com. The more the merrier (pun
intended)!
CHRISTMAS DECORATORS NEEDED, PART II
As part of the next Fusion Serve Day, we are looking for any and all helpers from
our church willing to spread some joy and decorate others’ homes for Christmas
on Sunday, December 5th from approximately 12:30 - 3 pm. Please contact Alex
at aevanoff@butlerfumc.com for more information or if you are willing to serve in
this way.

BROKEN THINGS: CONCEALED OR REVEALED
Matthew 12:9-14 (focus: verses 13-14)
Now the focus of the story moves to the man himself. Before this moment, the
man was an object of conversation. Now Jesus’s eyes focus on the man. “Yes,
your hand is shriveled – it’s not what I intend it to be – it’s broken. Will you keep
hiding it, or will you reveal it and let me heal it? Will you show it to this group as an
act of faith in what I can do?” Jesus doesn’t force the man to show his hand – it’s
an invitation for the man to be honest and vulnerable about his brokenness – to
not be afraid to admit it to Jesus and those he’s with. We’ve talked about all of us
being broken in some way. We’ve talked about the fact that our brokenness does
not make us less valuable to God in any way. Now, we must decide if we really
believe those things,and present our brokenness to Jesus expecting healing to
be given. Doug Witherup says it like this: “What we conceal, we continue to live
with. What we reveal to Jesus is exposed to his power and healing.” (Interobang
Preaching, p.42)
