A love for music…who wouldn’t fall in love
with summer music camp? The Reading Musical
Foundation sent 53 students to music camp
this year. Now hitting the five-year mark, the
summer camp scholarship program continues to
be one of the most successful and life-changing
opportunities the Foundation offers the county’s
student musicians.
“I took away a lot from music camp. The friends
and memories will leave a lasting impression on
my future musical experiences. I’m so pumped for
this year and how I will apply what I learned to
my music,” said Ed Dorner, a Music Educators of
Berks County camp recipient.
Comments like this convince RMF’s Scholarship
Committee that the summer program is
something special. These excited, motivated
musicians return to Berks County eager to play
and eager to learn, a wonderful combination for
any school music teacher.
The Reading Musical Foundation is able to
offer the summer camp scholarship program
through established scholarship funds, programs
with summer camp scholarship restrictions, and
generous individuals who donate summer camp
fellowships. Many students are able to receive
instrument instruction in school, but coupled
with instrumental fees and private lessons, a lot
of family budgets can’t squeeze out summer camp
tuition as well. These are the families for whom the
summer camp scholarship program was formed.
