No other musical activity has required me to use
all my musical talent and theory knowledge as
extensively as this camp. I learned so many new
things it was almost overwhelming.

I lived more and learned more that week than all
those years of choir and music class combined.
Every day since I’ve been wishing I could have
brought everybody I met back home with me. I
miss all the crazy practices, hearing songs everywhere
I went, knowing that we were all connected
by one common love - music.

I had a wonderful time at Suzuki camp. I learned a
lot about expression and feeling by describing the
sections of the piece. I can now use these skills to
play with more expression and get into the music.

I was among 450 other high school students who
were attending camp with high expectations of
becoming a drum major. Although I struggled with
many of the technique items, I discovered that the
staff was very helpful. They were always willing
to help out in any way, and many of them formed
personal relationships with me. Not only was the
staff kind, the directors of the academy were
extremely helpful. George Parks was so much fun,
and even though we were outside on one of the
hottest days, he had such a great personality that
he would make you want to come and learn everything
he was teaching without complaining.

This summer was one of the best summers I have
ever had. I learned so much musically. We played
the third and fourth movements of Shostakovich’s
tenth symphony...the audience loved us!

This trip with Sound of America was so incredible,
and I would not trade it for anything. I made so
many great friends that I know I’ll stay in touch
with, and we’re already planning a reunion! I
learned so much about other cultures and customs,
but I also learned to appreciate the free restrooms
in the US!
