offical leinster supporters club We’re quickly into Round 7 of the 2021/22 United Rugby Championship and the second of our home back-to-back interprovincial fixtures before the focus shifts to Europe for another fortnight of fixtures there. Last week’s clash with Ulster was a tough day at the office for us, however we must move quickly from that as this weekend sees us welcome Connacht to the RDS. While we must contend ourselves with a hard fought but ultimately frustrating loss last week, the same cannot be said for tonight’s opponents who dismissed Ospreys 46-18 in a fantastic display of free-flowing rugby in a very (very) wet and windswept Sportsground last Friday night. Connacht will be coming into this fixture buoyed by the recent results for both teams, as well as knowing that the last time they played in the RDS, back in January, they went home with a 35-24 victory and you can be sure they’ll be looking for a similar performance tonight. Given there was a five-week break before the games last week, Leinster will no doubt have spent the past week ensuring that the cobwebs are well and truly blown away as Leo, Stuart and all the players and backroom staff, will not be looking for a repeat performance of last week. Defensively in the statistics, it’s a case of 3rd v 4th with the visitors sitting higher up the table there so the team will be looking for us, the fans, to keep the Leinster roar going throughout the game and ensure the visitors know that they are not in for an easy evening. The walls of the RDS fortress aren’t breached too often and the team will not be wanting to face into Europe on the back of two such breaches. No doubt the video analysis session was a tough watch, but we are a team who focuses on what’s in front and not what was. We can’t change the past, we just accept and move on. Don’t forget to drop into the Laighin Out before or after the game if you’re looking to purchase some OLSC Merchandise. The shop will be open and we look forward to seeing you all there.
