As I sit here re-writing this on the 16th December,<br />
the nation’s plans for Christmas are quickly<br />
disintegrating due to the new Covid variant. I<br />
hope that, by the time this magazine reaches you, you’ll<br />
be looking back at an enjoyable Christmas period which<br />
wasn’t as disastrous as many initially feared.<br />
Right now, my heart sinks for those local businesses<br />
who have again had Christmas obliterated by events<br />
out of their control. During the lockdowns, many local<br />
businesses went over and above to help those customers<br />
who needed their products and services. Many attracted<br />
new customers as a result, but as the pandemic eased,<br />
these customers drifted away.<br />
Once the wave recedes and restrictions lift this year,<br />
please consider #shoplocal as your resolution for the<br />
new year. Whilst variants of this damn virus come and go,<br />
many vulnerable people need local businesses to survive<br />
and thrive, so please #shoplocal when you can.<br />
