Time to Talk
The Time to Talk Day, an initiative that encourages
everyone to talk about their mental health, takes place
this year on Thursday 3rd February 2022. The day is
about creating supportive communities by having
conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about
mental health.
Seneley Green Parish Council, and in particular Cllr
Pete Peers and their Health & Wellbeing Group working
alongside Kate Andrews, a Mental Health Professional at
Garswood Surgery, will be leading the way by hosting an
event for Time to Talk Day.
The event will take place, subject to Government &
NHS England regulations at the time, on Thursday
3rd February between 10am-1pm at Seneley Green
Community Hall on Billinge Road in Garswood.
The Parish Council is also open to facilitating further
events for people suffering with their mental health and
their friends and families. For details about this and a
list of mental health support agencies, please visit the
website www.seneleygreenparishcouncil.org.uk.
New Hall for Billinge PC
After almost 3 years of negotiation, Billinge Chapel End
Parish Council has secured the purchase of the former
Methodist Church in the centre of the village. The site of
the former Public Hall on Pingot Road will be developed
into two bungalows.
The new Public Hall is next to the Millennium Garden
which the Parish Council already owns. The small
graveyard on the site of the church will be maintained by
the Parish Council.
At the first Parish Council meeting at the new Public
Hall, Parish Chair Cllr Dennis Mc Donnell said “This is an
historic occasion and I sincerely hope that, in a hundred
years’ time, our successors in the Parish Council will be
celebrating the centenary of the site”.
He also thanked the Councillors for their efforts to secure
the site and, in particular, the previous Parish Clerk, Tom
Kelly and present Clerk Hazel Broatch.
The Parish Council will be consulting with residents on
proposals to develop the site for community needs.
Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome for
consideration as part of the process. The Parish Council
meets at 7.30 pm on the third Monday of every month.
