Sept 1948: The Maxwell Consolidated N.L. Company <strong>Daylesford</strong>, is still short <strong>of</strong> manpower the average<br />

attendance being 22 men. The shaft at the Ajax South mine, <strong>Daylesford</strong>, was cleaned out and<br />

repaired to500 ft. Crosscutting was continued east and west at the No. 4 level <strong>of</strong> the Florence<br />

mine, <strong>Daylesford</strong> 815<br />

March 1950: The Maxwell Consolidated mine, <strong>Daylesford</strong>, has changed hands and is now known as the<br />

Aurora mine. The winding plant has been completely overhauled and re-conditioned, and the<br />

shaft has been repaired. Another new Co. has cleared its shaft to a depth <strong>of</strong> 300ft 816 .<br />

Sept 1950: Ajax Consolidated, <strong>Daylesford</strong>, The mine was closed pending the delivery <strong>of</strong> a large pump.<br />

Aurora, <strong>Daylesford</strong>. The new ventilation system is now in full operation and regular crushings<br />

are being obtained with fairly good results 817 .<br />

March 1951: Aurora, <strong>Daylesford</strong>. During 1950 the output was 1,757 tons crushed and 1,055 fine ounces <strong>of</strong><br />

gold. 818<br />

1964-1968: Deep lead working was attempted at the Lady Jennifer Mine near Yandoit. Production<br />

commenced in 1964 and ceased in 1968; the return was 9.46kg <strong>of</strong> gold. This was the last deep<br />

lead underground mine in Victoria. 819<br />
