I
t was March 6, 2020 when we last gathered together at the Granada Theatre
and CAMA was presenting an historic concert in celebration of the 100th
anniversary of the first concert by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Santa
Barbara. It was a marvelous occasion—then the COVID‐19 pandemic hit only a few days
later and concerts state- and nationwide were cancelled.
Following the longest period of “dark stages”—19 months!—in CAMA's long history,
we were at last able to present a special performance by Les Violons du Roy with
mandolinist Avi Avital on October 19, 2021 at the Lobero Theatre. Not even World War II
had caused such a prolonged interruption of CAMA’s live performances. We were thrilled
that so many of our patrons were able to join us for the “welcome back” performance.
We are all so delighted to be back in our theaters, continuing CAMA's long tradition of
bringing the world’s finest classical artists to everyone in our community.
CAMA's Board of Directors and staff thank you all who have supported CAMA over these
past two years. Your heart-warming and generous support has enabled us to come
through the past many months carrying the bright torch of our mission to bring the
finest in classical music to our community. We are most sincerely grateful.
