4 On solid ground<br />
The early 2000s were not kind to <strong>Thunderbird</strong>.<br />
Rapid changes in the MBA market caught the<br />
school off-guard and major world events further<br />
hurt enrollment, pushing the school to the brink.<br />
But now, <strong>Thunderbird</strong> has turned around its<br />
fortunes and has found its footing.<br />
18 Campaign <strong>Thunderbird</strong><br />
Poised to significantly expand its presence in the MBA market, <strong>Thunderbird</strong><br />
has launched a $65 million fund-raising campaign to support its plans.<br />
26 Donors and contributors<br />
<strong>Thunderbird</strong> Global Leadership Society Donors who give $1,000 or more<br />
have membership in this newly-formed fellowship.<br />
Corporation and foundation giving From Coca-Cola to JPMorgan Chase to<br />
Bridgestone/Firestone, dozens of well-known corporations give to the school.<br />
Alumni gifts by class From those who graduated 50 years ago to those<br />
who just finished a year ago, alumni donate millions to <strong>Thunderbird</strong>.<br />
Other contributors Friends, faculty and staff also contribute to the school.<br />
Volunteer leadership Hundreds of people give their valuable time and attention<br />
to enhance the <strong>Thunderbird</strong> community and to support the school’s mission.<br />
Profiles of giving<br />
Booster for life A scholarship is set up in the name of Chuck Mannel, who retired<br />
from <strong>Thunderbird</strong> after 14 years but never stopped singing the school’s praises.<br />
Artemis supporters Phoenix women donate more than $170,000 in gifts and<br />
pledges at <strong>Thunderbird</strong>-hosted breakfast featuring the Afghanistan ambassador<br />
to the United States.<br />
Ki-ai vs. Yeehaw The Hong Kong and Texas alumni chapters are squaring off<br />
in a contest to see who can raise more funding for scholarships.<br />
An ethical life Long-serving Trustee David C. Lincoln steadfastly lives by one credo:<br />
good ethics is good business.<br />
Wide open spaces Alumna’s love of motorcycles leads her to trek across Europe<br />
and to work for the most venerated of motorcycle makers: Harley-Davidson.
