As a mental health advocate partnering<br />
with @lovemymindyxe I share mental<br />
health resources and hope to inspire<br />
teens to make positive choices. I have recently<br />
began leading a mental health initiative at my high<br />
school which has allowed me to share the importance<br />
of self-care and mental health with my peers.<br />
Through my love of dance, musical theatre, performing<br />
and song writing, I have gained valuable experiences<br />
and have learned from talented mentors<br />
who have inspired me to want to make a difference.<br />
Having something that I am passionate about and<br />
sticking to it contributes to a healthy mind. I find<br />
that tuning into my passions helps me feel like I<br />
have a purpose which is so important.<br />
As a cast member in the Saskatoon Expressions, I<br />
have toured schools and performed at many events,<br />
sharing material that often contains powerful messages<br />
of inclusivity and positivity. This experience<br />
has helped shape my artistic vision and give me the<br />
confidence to speak out to address issues that I<br />
see affecting teens.<br />
Many teens struggle with mental health, trauma,<br />
peer pressure, and bullying, even though we may<br />
not always be able to see it. Through my song, Save<br />
Me, I wanted to encourage teens to reach out to<br />
one another and to spread the message of how<br />
important it is to be kind. No matter what we are<br />
going through, no one is truly alone, and better days<br />
are always on their way.<br />
Being a teen is difficult, and especially during<br />
the isolation that we are feeling due to Covid. Now<br />
more than ever it’s important to find a positive<br />
mindset. I feel that consistency is key and includes<br />
things like getting the right amount of sleep and exercise<br />
and maintaining a healthy diet to help your<br />
mind and body thrive!<br />
