THECB - OER Grants to NAU

NAU is proud to announce it is the recipient of a total of ten grants from the Texas Higher

Education Coordinating Board (THECB) for the OER Course Development (five grants) and OER

Course Implementation (five grants). Most recently, six grants were awarded in August: Dr.

Tijerina and Dr. Smith received a Development Grant for the ENGL 1311 - Composition I.

Faculty receiving Implementation Grants were Mr. Whittington for the MATH 1313 - Precalculus,

Dr. Nguyen for the MATH 2315 - Calculus II, Dr. Kurban/Dr. Johnson for the MATH 1312 - Statistics,

Dr. McGinty for the PYSC 2311 - General Psychology, and Dr. Harder for the GOVT 2312 -

Texas Government.

During this academic year, faculty will develop course materials to assist in reducing costs for

educational materials for students, as well as materials and course texts that can increase

accessibility for students and increase student achievement in these courses. Some of the

courses have already begun implementing the use of the newly developed OER materials in

courses this fall semester. Others will be implementing the materials in the spring semester. The

grants will also assist in upgrading and expanding library resources and technological equipment

and platforms.

North American University is one of the top awardee recipient institutions of higher education

in Texas in both Development and Implementation Grants. Congratulations to our NAU faculty

for this achievement and contribution to higher education.
