Dr. Faruk Taban has been NAU’s Provost and VP for Academic Affairs since 2017 and will now
serve as the Interim President. We are so excited to have him include this in his title as he will
continue to oversee his respective departments.
Dr. Serif Ali Tekalan will provide his talent to NAU and serve as NAU’s VP for International
Affairs and continue to build relationships between NAU and the international academic
communities.

NAU’s Annual International Conference 2022
NAU is planning to organize its second Annual International Conference on Internationalization of
Higher Education on Tuesday-Wednesday, July 19-20, 2022, in Houston, TX. In this invitation-only
conference, presenters will be eminent senior administrators from various higher education
institutes across the world. More information will be posted soon on the conference website.
Counseling Service
This past year and a half have been a trying time for most of us. Not only are we struggling with
the pandemic, but also with many changes that come along with it. At times, maintaining a
balance and normalcy in our lives can be overwhelming.

Employee Lunch with Administration
Thank you to all employees who participated in a Lunch with Administration on either November
10 or November 12. Hope you enjoyed the opportunity to get together and share comments,
thoughts, and suggestions on a variety of topics. Going forward for next semester, we plan to
host a monthly lunch so that we can continue to meet with you and share good food and
conversation. We are also looking forward to incorporating a celebration of birthdays into the
lunch and restarting the tradition of ordering delicious birthday cakes.
