COMI 1640 - Introduction to Word<br />

Processing - 1 Credit<br />

This module introduces introductory word<br />

processing features such as creating, printing<br />

and editing a document. This course<br />

covers formatting documents including<br />

text and paragraphs. Students use spelling,<br />

grammar and AutoCorrect features and<br />

are introduced to headers, footers and<br />

tables in basic word processing documents.<br />

COMI 1645 - Intermediate Word<br />

Processing - 1 Credit<br />

This module covers intermediate word<br />

processing features. Topics include tables and<br />

data management, envelopes, labels and mail<br />

merge, formatting large documents, tables <strong>of</strong><br />

content and indexes, as well as creating online<br />

forms and working with outlines. (Recommended:<br />

COMI 1650 - Advanced Word<br />

Processing - 1 Credit<br />

This module covers more advanced word<br />

processing features. Topics include incorporating<br />

graphic elements into documents,<br />

working with columns, using desktop<br />

publishing features and incorporating the<br />

use <strong>of</strong> macros into word processing documents.<br />

The use <strong>of</strong> the drawing tools as well<br />

as the creation <strong>of</strong> Web pages using a word<br />

processor will also be discussed. (Recommended:<br />

COMI 1720 - Integration <strong>of</strong> Graphics,<br />

Databases and Word Processing -<br />

This module allows students to interface<br />

COMI 1740 - Electronic Mail/Networking/Communications<br />

- 1 Credit<br />

This module introduces concepts and<br />

terminology <strong>of</strong> electronic online communication<br />

using internal and external, wide<br />

area and local area networks. Students use<br />

communication s<strong>of</strong>tware to access outside<br />

computer information and electronic mail<br />

services to facilitate local and worldwide<br />

electronic communications and research.<br />

COMI 1750 - HTML - 3 Credits<br />

This course covers the use <strong>of</strong> the HTML<br />

language and its associated tools including<br />

the basic features <strong>of</strong> HTML scripting,<br />

include graphics, tables, forms and dynamic<br />

The newest language technique developing<br />

on the Web is the eXtensible Markup Language.<br />

This course introduces fundamentals<br />

<strong>of</strong> XML languages to define and validate<br />

data, use schemas, transformations, linking,<br />

VML, SMIL and CSS. XML files are used<br />

with different editing s<strong>of</strong>tware. Assignments<br />

are used to demonstrate XML activity<br />

at students’ Web sites. Lecture: 3 hours,<br />

COMI 1756 - XML 1 Basics (eXtensible<br />

Web site is facilitated by the use <strong>of</strong> editing<br />

languages. This course presents Web site<br />

development techniques using a current<br />

Web site editing language and introduces<br />

the use <strong>of</strong> editing languages to develop<br />
