ACCT (ACCounTing)<br />
ACCT 1010 - Financial Accounting -<br />
4 Credits<br />
This course presents the objectives and<br />
basic procedures <strong>of</strong> accounting for a business<br />
organized as a corporation. Topics<br />
covered include the accounting cycle for<br />
service and merchandising firms, accounting<br />
for short-term liquid assets, inventories,<br />
long-term assets and current liabilities.<br />

ACCT 1020 - Managerial Accounting -<br />
4 Credits<br />
This course covers the use <strong>of</strong> accounting<br />
data by an organization’s management.<br />
Topics include the statement <strong>of</strong> cash flows,<br />
financial statement analysis, an introduction<br />
to manufacturing accounting concepts,<br />
cost-volume-pr<strong>of</strong>it analysis, budgeting,<br />
capital expenditure decisions, just-in-time<br />
and activity-based costing concepts. (Prerequisite:<br />
ACCT 1010) Lecture: 5 hours<br />
ACCT 1030 - Computerized Accounting<br />
- 3 Credits<br />
The course integrates the processing <strong>of</strong><br />
accounting information with the use <strong>of</strong><br />
a commercial general ledger s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />
package. An initial presentation <strong>of</strong> the<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware is included to develop a specific<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> menus and navigation<br />
techniques. Discussion focuses on setup,<br />
maintenance, information entry and report<br />
generation. Specific topics <strong>of</strong> the accounting<br />
cycle are presented including journal<br />
transactions, accounts receivable, accounts<br />
payable, inventory, payroll, financial statements<br />
and special projects. Note: May<br />
be taken concurrently with ACCT 1020.<br />

ACCT 1500 - Personal Income Taxes -<br />
3 Credits<br />
This course provides an overview <strong>of</strong> the<br />
tax problems confronting individuals on<br />
the federal and state levels. Tax situations<br />
involving incomes, exemptions, deductions<br />
and capital gains and losses are undertaken<br />
and the pertinent tax forms are discussed.<br />

ACCT 2010 - Intermediate Accounting<br />
I - 4 Credits<br />
This course involves advanced work on<br />
concepts and principles <strong>of</strong> accounting.<br />
Topics include financial statements, cash,<br />
temporary investments, receivables and<br />
inventories. (Prerequisite: ACCT 1020) Lecture:<br />

ACCT 2020 - Intermediate Accounting<br />
II - 4 Credits<br />
A continuation <strong>of</strong> ACCT 2010, this course<br />
covers the study <strong>of</strong> the more advanced<br />
phases <strong>of</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong> financial statements,<br />
investments and fixed assets; depreciation<br />
and depletion; intangible assets; current<br />
and long-term liabilities and stockholders’<br />
equity. (Prerequisite: ACCT 2010) Lecture: 5<br />

ADAS 2510 - Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office Applications<br />
II - 3 Credits<br />
This course will provide students with<br />
further training on Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office<br />
applications that include advanced Word<br />
and Excel using a hands-on approach. In<br />
addition, students will continue to develop<br />
their keyboarding skills and accuracy. A keyboarding<br />
speed range <strong>of</strong> 30 to 55 wpm is<br />
required for this course. (Prerequisite: OFTD<br />
1220 or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor) Lecture: 3<br />

ADAS 2520 - Office Transcription II -<br />
2 Credits<br />
This course continues to develop pr<strong>of</strong>iciency<br />
in transcribing to mailable copy. It<br />
is designed to further refine and integrate<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice skills and applications. Emphasis is on<br />
the advanced application <strong>of</strong> language skills<br />
in the production <strong>of</strong> written communications.<br />
(Prerequisite: OFTD 1170 and 1280 or<br />
permission <strong>of</strong> instructor) Lecture: 2 hours, Lab:<br />

ADAS 2530 - Office Technology and<br />
Procedures II - 3 Credits<br />
This capstone course enables students<br />
to integrate the skills previously learned<br />
in the program via a career-related <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
simulation. Students continue to learn<br />
Outlook as well as gain knowledge <strong>of</strong> planning<br />
meetings and conferences. In addition,<br />
students research business data and learn<br />
about parliamentary procedures. Emphasis<br />
is placed on the development and exercise<br />
<strong>of</strong> decision-making ability and human relations<br />
skills. (Prerequisite: OFTD 1140) Lecture:<br />

ADAS 2570 - Administrative Office<br />
Management - 3 Credits<br />
This course deals with the strategies and<br />
issues related to effective supervision <strong>of</strong><br />
employees who work in an <strong>of</strong>fice environment.<br />
The relationship between <strong>of</strong>fice productivity<br />
and management activities such as<br />
planning, scheduling organizing, implementing,<br />
evaluating and controlling is examined.<br />

Prerequisite: Successful completion <strong>of</strong> course required before registering. Corequisite: <strong>Course</strong> must be taken prior to or at the same time.<br />

Technology Cooperative Education<br />
I (for Administrative Assistant, Legal<br />
Administrative Assistant, Travel/Hospitality<br />
and Culinary Arts Assistant) - 4<br />
Credits<br />
This is a planned and supervised cooperative<br />
work experience that provides students<br />
with an opportunity to observe and<br />
participate in a work environment related<br />
to their academic interests. Students work<br />
approximately 15-20 hours a week in an<br />
approved cooperative work experience<br />
placement for competitive wages and<br />
participate in a one hour and 40 minute<br />
weekly seminar on campus. If this course<br />
is taken in the third semester, it fulfills the<br />
fourth semester requirement <strong>of</strong> CO-OP<br />
or Career Development. (Prerequisites: Enrollment<br />
in Office Administration Program AND<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> 24 credits in that program,<br />
AND 2.0 GPA or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor)<br />

Work Experience I that helps students<br />
develop in-depth knowledge <strong>of</strong> specific<br />
content areas and demonstrate increased<br />
levels <strong>of</strong> expertise in these areas. Students<br />
work approximately 15-20 hours a week in<br />
an approved cooperative work experience<br />
site. Students participate in a one hour<br />
and 40 minute weekly seminar on campus.<br />
(Prerequisite: Same as Office Administration<br />
Cooperative Education I but also requires the<br />
successful completion <strong>of</strong> ADAS 2580 or permission<br />
