<strong>Iowa</strong> businesses have a new<br />
electronic option when registering<br />
for licenses and permits, filing tax<br />
returns and reports, and making<br />
some payments. It’s a secure<br />
portal called GovConnect<strong>Iowa</strong>.<br />
Multiple state agencies collaborated<br />
on the project with a goal of better<br />
serving <strong>Iowa</strong>ns through modernized<br />
technology and procedures.<br />
In the initial rollout, processes at<br />
the <strong>Iowa</strong> Department of Revenue,<br />
<strong>Iowa</strong> Lottery, <strong>Iowa</strong> Department<br />
of Inspections and Appeals, and<br />
<strong>Iowa</strong> Alcoholic Beverages Division<br />
are included in GovConnect<strong>Iowa</strong>.<br />
The shared online portal<br />
streamlines business registration<br />
by providing applications or<br />
licensing for each of these agencies<br />
in one convenient location.<br />
By using the new self-service tool,<br />
business filers can register or<br />
renew certain business licenses and<br />
permits, file tax returns and reports,<br />
make payments and communicate<br />
with the state agencies involved.<br />
Later rollouts in this multi-year project<br />
will simplify processes for corporate<br />
income taxpayers, individual income<br />
taxpayers, local government oversight<br />
and distributions, and more.<br />

Universal input choices or<br />
drop-down lists for suggested<br />
business terms, such as sole<br />
proprietor or CEO.<br />
Street address matching<br />
